I'm wanting to paint under my guide wraps white so that the white ncp thread will remain bright. Will this have an effect on the finish adhearing to the blank? I don't wanna be fishing and the guides start popping. I thought about just using a white primer. I think the name of it Kilz or something like that.

To answer Hank's question I was referring to line touching the blank when under a load. I was just wanting some opinions on the matter when I go to our fishing club meeting trying to explain why a spiral wrap rod is better. I know they are better and I want to convey that to a group of folks who have not seen a spiral wrap or think that because of it's weird looks it must it's not any better.

I know it's not a good thing but what exactly are the down falls of the line touching the blank?
Thanks,

I agree with ya Hank. Myself, I know that a spiral wrapped rod is WAY better. I just don't know how to convey that to a group of people who have no idea about it. I don't see any greater distance in my rods but I don't see any loss either. I build mostly inshore rods for Speckled Trout and Red Fish.

I'm building a rod for our fishing club to be raffled off. Most of these guys have never seen a spiral wrapped rod and the ones who have seen one look it as weird. I would like to hear the benefits of a spiral wrapped rod so that when I present it I can make a presentaion on the benefits compared to a conventional rod. I'm no speech writer so any info and help is much appreciated.

344. Parabolic ?
Can someone enlighten me on what parabolic action or a parabolic blank is? And please forgive me for being ignorant to this terminology.......I know some folks are shaken their head at me while reading this question.

346. Re: EVA 2"x2" Block?
Billy.....I was trying but it turned into a big hassle trying to get it from Taiwan. They sent me some samples of some really hard eva but they would only take a wire transfer of funds. I didn't want to do that. I'm still looking for another source.

348. Re: EVA question
John,
I made a black grip with pink polka dots and used aluminum tubing. Cut two 6 inch pieces. One piece I sharpened from the inside and the other piece I sharpened from the outside. Made for a good tight fit and every hole was perfect.

Billy....I was looking at the United series UR702 because it was 6-17 lb test with a 4.5 tip. The G-USA B70M has 5.5 tip. I wanted the smaller tip but still the fast action.

What is the difference in the G-USA DHX Graphite Cast/Spin and the United Series (DHX) Casting blanks? Is the United series as good as the G-USA series?
Thanks,
Steve

I'm wanting to match a blank to a Shimano Curado 200 BSF reel. I'm using 8lb test. What I would be using this blank for is Speckled Trout tossing 1/4-1/2 jig heads with Fin-S or Cocaho grubs. I have the reel mounted on a G-USA B70M now and it just doesn't feel right. I'm thinking a lighter/smaller tip and mod-fast or moderate action blank would be a better. Just wondering if someone who might hav
