Paint under the wraps

I'm wanting to paint under my guide wraps white so that the white ncp thread will remain bright. Will this have an effect on the finish adhearing to the blank? I don't wanna be fishing and the guides start popping. I thought about just using a white primer. I think the name of it Kilz or something like that.

KILZ is the best there is as a primer. Read the mix --- there are two types of KILZ. One I think is a latex and that could leave you with some problems (fisheyes). Scuff the blank where you'll put the primer -- should work well.

I like to use scotch tape around each side of this area before painting. Before the paint is dry and after it starts to set a bit so it won't run, pull the tape off. Don't wait until the paint is hard, it may pull parts of it off...
