Thanks Ted and Bob for your input. Ted, with regards to spinning rods, what kinda sizes are your using from stripper to tip since you're using the fly guides? How about on a baitcaster? At what line weight do you think this particular guide usage/orientation would max out at? 30/40/50lbs? I am unfamiliar with orientation using the fly guides. Would you use a bridge guide? Thanks f

Thanks Ted for the reply! The rods I am planning are specific to saltwater inshore, so corrosion resistance is a consideration. Although simple common sense maintenance trumps frame material IMO. I am assuming the use of fly guides to control the amount of free flowing line as it exits toward the tip then Ted? What would you recommend for guide design on a baitcaster rather than a spinni

I've used Calstar's up to the 40 fathom mark using 8-10oz iron jigs on a 700ML with utmost satisfaction. I've also used the GX7 as well as 700L rods too with no complaints from me, but the fish don't seem to agree. Newbie chiming in here... For you fellas that have built rods (either baitcasting or spinning) for clients with their specific intent of using straight braid or braid with mon/floro leader is/are there any guides that lend themselves "better" to this application. By better I mean less potential of the braid to tangle around the guide during casting. Glancing thru various catalogs
