I've used the Polyneon 60 on some weaves, it works fine .Just be careful with how much tension you put on the threads when you tighten up the pattern, they break pretty easily. When you go back to the 40 It'll feel like your handling rope. :lol

Sorry you had such a lousy ending to the week-end, hopefully next year will be smooth sailing. It was great getting to see Billy again and meeting you , John and Michael Also wanted to say that all you NERBs did a awesome job presenting the art of crosswrapping and how the show would be poorer for it if you didn't do it again next year.

I pretty much use Madeira Polyneon 40 exclusively anymore ( I build mostly flyrods), Like Mike I use cp on my wraps and I also like the large color selection.

I built Dan's new FTL 803-5 to take to a couple of ISE shows for a demo . I had a couple of casting instructors compare it to the Sage 389-SLT and both picked the FTL. In the words of one of them " This rod is better than s@x" Dan is talking about building them up to a 7 wt. and also making them available as a 4 piece.(at the moment they come in 5&6 piece) Dan has another bi

It is a polyneon embroidery thread. I build mostly flyrods and have gone to the Madeira # 40 for my guides wraps with good results . I have used the #60 on occasion to shrink down some of my weaves , the biggest drawback is you don't have as large of a color selection as the #40.
Using the Madeira thread does require that you put on a coat or two of cp to avoid the dreaded "fisheyes

I agree with Billy in that the Madeira Polyneon has far more elasticity than the nylon thread. Though it is a different animal than nylon when doing guide wraps once you do a few there's really nothing to it. I pretty much use the Madeira Polyneon #40 for all the flyrods I build and have never had a problem. If somebody specifically asks for no cp then I go to Gudebrod.

OK Andy, I just did a few rods with your finish and my only question is when do you come out with larger bottles. You have a winner there, very easy to work with.

Most of my weaves go on fly rods or bass rods. I try and keep most of my patterns under 60 threads and I pretty much always use Madiera Polyneon #40 though I have used the #60 to shrink some patterns down. If I'm weaving on a multi-piece blank I quite often place the weave on the first ferrule.

They are 37 1/2" give or take. I'd probably build it at 38" to allow a little extra for a rod sock.

Use the Polyneon #40 , it's just a tad smaller than A thread, but make sure You use CP as there has been problems reported from those that have tried it with out CP (just ask Billy). Apparently there's a small amount of silicone used in the manufacturing of the thread to help it slide when used in machines. I'm also using the Polyneon # 60 in some of my weaves on small blanks , the only drawba
