Are you sure that it's not using 2 rods on a slide for J. Trevalle, the only person that I know of that uses two sections of a rod to create one nuke surf rod is Castaway, Nick Myers, in C.C Texas. Now I know that he does use Batson blanks to make rods for casting off the whole spool off the reels and I do mean the whole spool casted out. As for slides a different concept which we also use for K

Honestly, I haven't had any problems yet with this thread it did darken a little even with the color preserve using flex coat, but I figured since I didn't use a undercoat/wrap the black of the blank showed a bit. As for the tension and thread guide I clean before I start a new wrap or as I see fit. Ed. Mark Fisher would be the best fit person that I know of to give a definite answer concerning

First I would like to express thanks to everyone, My apologies for not replying sooner, as for the underwrap I meant using the nylon on top for the guide foot then overwrap with Mettler. M. Fisher this is exactly what I had in mind "How would Large Guides Hold Under Pressure" using these threads. Being these blanks are large 10' reassuring the guide foot with nylon would be my best be

Just recently started using Mettler polysheen, Question? Would it be safe to wrap singlewrap on top of guide or should I use nylon underwrap then overwrap with polysheen, being that I'm uncertain whether if the sheen would hold under pressure I figured I'd ask the Pros. I fixing to re-wrap a 552, 553, and a ULUA 9' 3" seeker also and how would this thread hold up for a 114HLW and bigger re

Hi Tim, honestly the only thing that I had turning white after mixing thoroughly is epoxy glue both bottles also come in A and B, but invest in a finish mixer and a couple of stainless ball bearing no sweat from you mixing is easy and practically bubble free. I use bottles w/pumps and nothing but flexcoat, after 3 to 4 minutes wella ready to apply. Toms right 25min is fairly long for mixing. H

Maybe I'll throw in my 2 cents also. An expression yes, when a group of people show off there cars, mtrbikes, and everyother hobbies they're into makes them feel good that someone else admirs there work. Now in my opinion, when you build a custom rod for a customer, father and son example, according to there needs and wants for two best friends or a wife who wants to express how much her husba

Hi John, My advise to you would be first if it's for you and your right handed your guides should follow left 0 to 180dg, left handed to fall right, I also built my first spiral and love the living c____ out of it. Most guys on Padre coast line never seen anything like this til I took mine, unfortunately haven't seen how it fights yet since I'm using it for Bull Drums and shark. I'll try to pos

104. Thanks
Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who responded to can't get grip. After 130miles of a fishing trip and no luck from the local dealer which claims those grips haven't been made in over 30 years I guess I'm going with hypolon. My apologies for a late response and many thanks to everyone. Eddie.

105. Can't getta grip
I had a guy drop off a rod (old school) w/Varmax reel seat w/grips that look like hypolon/rubber mix, heavy, he called them nylon grips. I don't know where or how I would even get a hold of the same type of material. Of course, b4 I decided to do the work I made it clear it might have to be replaced with either EVA or Hypolon. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

106. Re: Flex Coat
Tom if you don't mix product A and B correctly you'll definitaly get a cracking sound and most likely start to show milky like after a while. I'm uncertain on which bottles or tubes if thats what was used(syring) to mix the finish, if this is the case purchase the 1/2 stroke pumps works great on 32oz bottles. Hope this helps.

107. Re: Gator Glass
Robert the gator glass looks like a shakespear blank with out the clear tip, light weight blank some bounce depending on the size, strong blank. We use the T90XH 9' 1pc and caught 42" black drum. Send me an email at ed.torres@sbcglobal.net and I'll send you a photo of a blank.
