Ralph , my best discription is a fly rod that has a rear grip that is removable for both single , and two handed fly casting , or spey casting . I've also read/seen them described (the name) as spinning/fly rods?? I think Stefan is refering to the first one .I am trying to do the single/two handed one as well . John

I think there is far too much enphisis put on building a light rod on , or in refrence to the spine . I personaly put the sections on a flat , hard surface, tip up , 45 degrees to the floor , push down in the center , let it spin where it wants to , mark the inside , and place my guides on that plane ( fly, spinning ). That's it , done in 5 min. heavier rods for boat and such get some more atten

I think it will look cool , and you shouldn't have any ill effects as long as you seal the thread and the copper good. The copper will tarnish or oxidize if it is exposed to the elements too long. John

Stefan , I just hung up the phone with Bob Meiser inquireing about the same thing you are going to try . I'm going to try it on a 5wt. He gave me some tips on what the charicteristics of the blank should be , grip size and a few other tips . Very nice guy to talk to , and well educated on the art of spey casting ,he also gave me some names of vidos to get for casting , and fishing the style.

In my experience , they are the same. I have only used snakes once...my first rod . After reading so much about single foot guides with inserts the snakes were history, changed to SF with SIC . I still use single foot wire guides though , and I normaly order them according to the size of the rod . Smaller rods 0,1-3 , and the bigger get the bigger #. They are definetly not the same as incert typ

I have built around 15 of H&H IM6 blanks from 2 thru 10 wt, and up to 9 ft. I just ordered 2 of the longer ones Thursday .The blanks are surprizingly nice for the money .The blanks are Strait and fish very well , I haven't done any CC measurements on them , but they fish well with the line wt they are marked for ( for my casting distances and style ).Well worth the money and Bob is a great

Now comes the hard part . give the credit cards to your husband , and find a good shrink .........you will need it .NO chevrons on top of birthday cakes , and leave all of your kitchen utensiles alone, exspecialy things like mixing spoons , and measureing sets. Buy extra ones for rodbuilding, you don't know how many times I've got the look 'cuz somthing was missing in the kitchen drawrs. Hav

Randy , depending on what kind of money you are looking to spend , you have quite a few potions. On my 9' 3wt , I have the following . 1st , and 2nd strippers #12,10 Titanium framed Fuji SIC fly strippers, followed by # 3 (4) REC recoil single foot fly guides, the rest are # 2 REC recoils , with a recoil tip. Super light guides , and it will make a big difference on a 3 wt that long . You could

I just ordered a couple yesterday from Bob . I was going to mention the sale he was having if no one else did . The blanks are very nice for the money , and fish well , at least the 9 footers do . Now I'm going to try a longer one to make a light switcher. John

I'm currious to see the difference in wieght of the two parts ...did any one wiegh the two sepratly ?? That is most likely the problem , as I've never had the concistancy of bubble gum after the two were mixed . The tin foil is a great tip , I usualy cover a kitchen plate with it . John

I enjoy getting the magazine , and if you look at some of the other publications , like the fishing mags , they have a ton of advertizements as stated. I don't think I would miss my next issue of F&S , but I will know if I don't get Rodmaker , it's the only one i realy look forward to every time is is due to be here. John

Jeff , if you do happen to wait longer than 72 hrs , scuff the epoxy with some grey Scotch Brite, then go to town . I usualy scuff after 48 hrs just to be sure I don't get any small spots where the epoxy has repelled from the already smooth, dry, first coat . John

Spencer is right , I go through software changes several times a year in the equipment that I service. I'm sure everyone will get aclimated to it . Just remember the first time that you visited this board , you had to learn the ropes , just think of it as doing it again . John
