Web cameras are fairly cheap, and can be connected to a laptop, and a projector also connected to the same laptop.
The action can be projected and recorded at the same time if the laptop has plenty of hard drive space.
Just a thought

Tom, will video cameras be allowed? It would be nice to shoot video to watch again at a later time.

63. Re: EVA vs. Cork
No problem, Billy. Now that I think about it, the trout usually thump pretty hard, and you don't really need to feel a redfish to know he's there.
I'll probably try some EVA grips just to see how I like them.
Thanks,
Larry

Does EVA interfere with the feel of the bite? Is it easier to feel the fish with cork?

I'm building 6' to 7' casting & spinning rods. Mainly for trout & redfish.

66. EVA vs. Cork
I have yet to build a rod from the bare blank up, so far I've just re wrapped some.
I'm wondering if there is a specific application for EVA grips as opposed to cork grips.
Are there any drawbacks to EVA instead of cork, and if so what are they?
Thanks,
Larry

Well, if anyone is interested, the Glissen did not work. Works great on the boat, though.
I even tried a little steel wool and scotchbrite, the stain is in the clearcoat all the way to the blank.

This is for my own curiosity, but why do they even make ncp black? What color does it turn if you don't use cp?

Yes, I would like to save the clearcoat.
The stain looks like a transparent blue, and only where the thread was. Where the guide foot tunnels were is still clear.
I have something called "Glissen Hull Magic" that I use on my boat to remove stains. It works well on the white fiberglass. I'm going to give it a shot.
I could sand it down and use Permagloss to re coat it if I have to I g

70. Stained Blank
I recently removed the guides, cork handle, and reel seat from a rod I was given. I intend to re wrap it with nice grips and guides.
The old guides were wrapped with blue thread, and there is a blue stain in the clearcoat on the blank where the guides were. Is there any way to get this stain out of the clearcoat?
The original guides were all double foot, and I want to use single foot guides, so

My comments will fall under the general wrapper category, as I have never seen the ones you are looking at in person.
I have a PacBay Rodsmith, and I really like it.
There are, however, a few things I don't like about it, and I don't know if other wrappers work the same.
One thing I don't like is with the drive belt on either of the pulleys, it is difficult to spin the rod by hand when working

I got Ken's DVD for Christmas, as I asked my wife to get it for me and she did. I found it informative, and felt like if I learned 2 or 3 things from it, which I did, it was worth the money. One nice thing about the DVD is I can rewind it as many times as I need to until I can go to my shop and add and drop a thread the first time I try.
I think if you want to get the full experience of building

74. Re: Epoxy Finish
Well, I can tell you, what Bill just described works well. I have had the pleasure of watching him work and it is amazing how simple he makes things look that most people think are complicated.

Salter's Jiggin Pole is the name of a rod created by a man named JB Salter. He is a guide near Baton Rouge, LA. His phone number is (225) 627-5151. I don't know what kind of blank is used to make the rods, but you might be able to get some information from him if you call him.

Personally, I think D would be easier, but A looks better.

78. Rodsmith Finish
Where can I order some of the new Rodsmith finish? Can't seem to find it online at any of the sponsors to the left.
Thanks,

I picked up one real similar to that one at a craft show with the wife one day.
Works well.

It's probably an error on the server side. You might try deleting your temporary files (in Internet Explorer, click on tools, internet options, delete files, ok, and ok again), but it is more likely something that needs to be slightly tweaked on the web server.

Bill, I confirmed my email. Send away.
I really want to come by and see you. Just thought I'd wait until after Christmas since it's usually a busy time for family visits.
Maybe one evening next week if that's ok with you?

I thought I might be pushing it. That's why I asked the pros.
Thanks for the input.
