Thanks for your imput. I've tried REC cork grips and they are not very good. I'll give Angler's Workshop a try. Anyone try Cabelas ?

I gave them a try on my T&T Horizon II rod and like them a lot. I used the saltwater guides. Be careful when ordering the guides for 9wt rods make sure you are getting the saltwater larger diameter guides. I was sold the freshwater model and kept them rather than returning the guide. These guides flex better than the standard snake guide. Try them you'll like them. Bill

I don't have a lathe to turn my own cork grips so who in your experience has the best pre-formed cork grips for a flyrod. Most of the ones that I've gotten were not that great. Bill

126. Re: Scratched Blank
Scratches are going to happen, the first few hurt the most. What you could do is put a thread wrap over the scratched area or just mix up some Flex coat a apply it on the scratch, this will help protect the blank. Bill

What works for me is to heat up the Flex Coat by putting the bottles in hot water. Helps thin out the Flex Coat without adding chemicals. Works great and helps eliminate the bubble problem.

Wonder how many rods people build in a year? For me I build rods as I need them and might go a couple of years without building a rod. Bill

Take a look at TFO(Temple Fork) they have reasonable priced saltwater blanks. I would also recommend St Croix.
