Jason - The OP is after a CB, not an MB. Ken - MHX CB843, St. Croix C70MM. I'm sure that Batson and Castaway probably have similar models as well but I don't use their blanks often enough to know off the top of my head. ........................................

Reaming is typically what I do. If I have some slop at the threaded end, its usually small enough that just a wind or two of mesh drywall tape takes up the slop. ...............................

I prefer to write on finish so I put down a coat of finish first. I scuff the finish with 1,000 grit paper. A light spritz of artists spray fix before the final coat of finish. ..........................................

I don't put single foot guides on most Muskie rods because the anglers typically are very hard on their equipment. I have no doubt the guides can handle the fishing...its the abuse the angler puts on it. Same with micros. But...if this a personal rod...and you're "responsible"...no reason you can't do it. You should have no issues with #5's. ..............................

It would work for a light towater stick. I use my Shikari SHX PSJ662 (same exact model...just from when Shikari made it) for 1/4 and 3/8 ounce ball head jigs with minnows or grubs for Walleye. Jig/grub and jig/tube for Smallmouth. I toss soft unweighted jerk baits too. I don't fish small topwaters often at all, but I have used it for that on more than one occassion. .................

Agree with many of the above. I really like single foot guides but most of my Muskie guys are too hard on them. Micros would just be asking for trouble. ...................................

Cold As the wall thickness decreases due to the cold, that makes the OD smaller and the ID larger. ...............................................

Cold plays no part. I know lots of guys will tell you it does, but they would be incorrect. I've fished in -15° temps for Lake Trout thru the ice using braided line with rod made from an IMX tip section from a 2 power Spin Jig. It was cold enough that you couldn't drop a jig 100' without the line freezing in the hole. You had to constantly break ice by stepping in the hole. And that's n

Long story short... Have a customer that wants me to make a 2-piece rod out of a 1-piece he has. Factory spinning rod. The problem (might just be in my head) is that he wants the rod split right where the 2nd guide is and wants that guide placed right back on the ferrule. For a variety of reasons. I'm having a hard time binding down a long footed guide to a ferrule that should flex. I t

Many years ago I bought some inexpensive fiberglass “no name” blanks. I didn’t like them for fishing rods but they proved to be great for ferrules and repairs. I am now down to just a few scrap sections with a couple of projects on the horizon. And my original source no longer exists. Does anyone have a suggestion for some relatively inexpensive glass blanks for ferrule/repair stock?

Glad to hear of the DS model! Outside of that...if the Bay models are tapered like Popping blanks...the lighter powered models make great drop shot blanks. ...............................

You've got two blanks there that are nothing like each other. Beyond the two manufacturers, those blanks are for very different uses. .................................

While I haven't tried it, I really don't think you'll have any issues. Epoxies really don't react with much so they're pretty safe to use. If you're worried...cut a small piece and stick it down to a plastic coffee lid. Then put a few drops of finish on it. The finish will level out and cure. You'll see if they don't like each other. ..........................

I like direct contact with the blank. But I can also say that I prefer the reduced size of an exposed blank seat vs its non-exposed relative. I palm my reels...even Muskie reels...and an exposed blank seat, whether you get more sensitivity from it or not, just feels better in my hand. ................................
