Emory, I use Titebond Waterproof, as do all of our regional shops now. I only do ring on ring <> Milled in place on the blank. Couple thousand plus grips done (including bonding all wood insert and metal barrel reel seats) over the past 5 years <> No visible lines after years of hard grip use. Not one ring or seat has ever lost adhesion. Wears evenly with the cork, and

Marc, Actually no <> Although Great Suff is similar. We buy water proof Titebond liquid Polyurethane adhesive by the case for all of our grip assembly bonding here in the shop. Like all bonding, there is a bit of a learning curve with liquid Polyureathane adhesives ... And procedures need to be followed. Using this bonding process is different then would be required for epoxy bo

But for me personally I do all of the grip assemblies: Cork ring bonding and milling, butt thread work detailing, hand signatures, and feather inlays. Our reel seats and cork rings are all bonded with

Good thread. Our shop: RB Meiser Fly Rods only builds two handed fly rods <> All on our own in - shop designed proprietary blank tapers. We presently have over 60 specific two handed fly rod tapers. 100% of our rods are custom built to client callouts, and we only sell direct to the angler (no rods in stores)100% of my rods are sold by word of mouth. Thanks Tom, I think Mike nailed it with his advise in all regards. For Blue Water I'd suggest a shorter tool for levering from the gunnels. The longer two handed fly rods are not the best application for this purpose regardless of their grain carrying capabilities. The longer two handed fly rods are best used for beach / jetties / estuarian or tidal rivers ... In fact are brilliant

Scott, Sure <> The Recols are just fine ... I'd suggest the heavy wire. ... And yes <> A "tippy" top 1/3 (for example) would show up dynamically with a static test, and this would surely aide in guide placement. Bob Meiser

Brandon, To elaborate a bit on my question ... And why I asked about the blank mfg name. Each mfg. does have very specific blank tapers in their two handed rods. If the blank is a tip action, stuff butted family of taper <> You may need to bunch the guides towards the top 1/3 a bit to acommadate acute flex. ... And in turn really minimize the number of guides at the bottom 2/3.

Hi Anthony, I designed all of the two handed and switch rod blanks now available by Beulah <> Very nice blanks. E-Mail me if you wish to discuss the 10'6" build-up. Hi Bill, I think you mailed me ? ... But your addy did not come through. About your question: I use a specific tapered CTS REVO for this application. For targeting trophy Beakies I'd suggest a 16 wt 3 pc 8'6" to 9'0" rod. If used as a two handed switch rod for overhead delivery of shooting heads, the angler can use a uni-upper grip/cheater for the high hand. Low

Tom, OK <> Understood about the water suggestion. Will the building allow a carpeted lane of say about 40' wide and 80' to 100' long with ceiling height over 16' ? If so ... I can use grass leaders to simulate anchor point much as we'd do on grass. Bob Meiser

Hi Scot, Yep ... Very familiar with her as Stephen and I designed her taper from scratch, starting the process nearly 3 years ago. In the early days of her development she was known as "EVE", and was the benchmark taper for most of the present CTS Affinity Plus two handed tapers and all of my Highlanders. I built a 5 pc 14'0' 9/10 for Gordon Armstrong two seasons ago, and he s

Scot, The issue of section movement on the longer two handed rods is ALWAYS an issue that needs to be addressed in some fashion. ...In short: The longer the rod, and the more sections within the rod <> The greater the opportunity of section seperation.
