Yes it IS Art!!! Your computer is putting in an old password locked in your browser cache. IT IS YOUR FAULT! I know because it happened to me and is EXACTLY what you describe above. Ignore the "dots" and put in your password manually and it will work.

Some companies had come out with shrink wrap on the guides and they actually worked pretty well. I had one and I think it was an Eagle Claw. Still have it and the guides are still in place and in good shape. If you can get clear shrink tubing it might be interesting.

"Still using fuji ceramic for strippers and tiptop to avoid line wear."
If you believe the SICs cause less line wear then why use anything else for the rest of the guides?

The number of pieces won't have anything to do with the action. You can get one piece surf rods with very fast actions, if you want.

Shakespeare stopped selling rod blanks several years ago. They do not warranty the All Star blanks with anything. I know because I tried to return an All Star about 7 or 8 months back and they told me that the All Star blanks are no longer warrantied even though I originally bought it back when All Star was officially in the custom rod building blank business. I was out of luck although they offe

I doubt anyone can give you what took the magazine about 6 pages to do and with photos to boot. If such details could be provided on a website there would be no need for the magazine.
Call Ian Miller in Australia and buy a copy of the magazine from him. ian@millerods.com
You'll be glad you did. It was a great

I haven't been asked to build one of those but I know its coming. Many east coast saltwater fly fishermen are moving to the two handed rods for surf use. So yes, I would be more than happy to see you attend and present a seminar.
I'd also look at it like this, there will be more rod builders at this show than all the other shows put together and they will be coming in from all over the world.

I pulled on a few in Charlotte last year and found them to be everything the owner says they are. REALLY nice blanks just a bit out of my budget. I only get to treat myself to one of the expensive blanks about once a year or so. I would be curious to know which CTS blanks Emory tried that did not live up to the owners claims.

I have a Loomis GLX in 9' 5wt and it is my all time favorite. Nothing about it seems brittle. I've tromped it up and down NY and into PA on back packing trips and caught a ton of trout on it. My very favorite fly rod.
I also have a Burkemheimer and it is one of the easiest casting rods you'd ever own. But compared to the GLX it seems very heavy or clubby. But it is EASY to cast.

I like my Delta. Saw good mentions on the Rikon and saw one this weekend. That's the one I'd get if I had to do it over. More capacity and features for less money. And looks to be a nice lathe.

A metal ferrule won't be very good. Way too heavy and bulky. I think there is an article on repair in the library on this site. Check it out. Should be able to fix it good as new.

Seems like an inside plug due to being smaller in diameter would also then be weaker. Not sure it would hold up in that type trolling situation. Can you trim back the foregrip a bit and put in an oversleeve? You could even remove the foregrip, slide a new one up the tip section and leave it there until the sleeve was in place and then slide the foregrip back down and glue in place. Shouldn't be a

It went down a couple weeks ago. Don't really know why. Sites come and go. They were having a lot of problems with spammers and that sort of thing. Easy to tell where it was coming from though. Shame.

Considering that the show Tom is doing is outdrawing 'other' shows in attendence by something like 30 to 1, I think he must know what he's doing. I have to drive down from upstate NY. It's a long drive on some pretty congested interstates in spots, but I can get there in one day and will keep coming back each they have it. It's easily worth a full day's drive down and back IMO. It's good enough t

I started using the Flex Coat abors and drilling system as much as I can. It's just faster. And I think the urethane stuff the arbors are made from should be indestructible and not affected by water or age.

Merrick is closer to me than Lamar but I did some checking and it turns out that Merrick is NOT a distributor for CTS blanks. If I had showed up at their dealer show and found two surf blanks was the full selection of CTS blanks they had I think I would have been mad enough to punch somebody. Somebody needs to get their story straight here. CTS does not even know about Merricks show and says the

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned the Common Cents System here. You could measure both rods and tell to the EXACT degree what the action of each is. Same with the power. You'd be able to tell if they were actually different and if so, then by how much. Nothing against your own refined sense of feel, but taking these measurements would confirm or refute what you think you are feeling. Just a

Only thing that has worked at all for me is to soak them in 303 Protectant. But even then that won't fix cracks. If they're just faded from the sun it does help but it won't make new looking sideplates from badly scratched or cracked ones.

I can drive it in less than half a day so I'm hooked!!! I'll be in touch.
One question on the CTS display, is this a factory display with a good selection of all the CTS blanks? Will Stephen be there? I should have looked at them more closely in Charlotte last year.

The Rodmaker volume 6 issue number 5 had an article detailing about every spiral wrap method that's ever been in use. It has photos and explanations of each one. Just FYI.

I like the Pac Bay model now because of the better chuck. It might fit the other machines. Aren't they all built in the same factory?
Flex Coat has a neat free wheel clutch that lets you put finish on and you can stop the rod by hand, but when you release it it will go to spinning again. Pretty neat.

A 4/5 at what distance? That would be the crux of the matter. I think most UL can cast from a 2 up to a 6 but it all depends on how far you want to cast it.

I'm going to try some of the bark handles on some bass rods I'm making for a cousin for Christmas. I don't see why they wouldn't be just as good on any type of rod. I do wonder if other types of bark might work just as well or if birch is the only one that will give a nice look to the handle. I have the Rodmaker article and may just have to try several types. I can see where the thick stiff bark

Rodmaker volume 9 number 1. If there is an easier method for applying finish than THAT I'd like to see or read about it. Don't think anybody can simplify it any more though. And you can't argue with the results.

Spencer makes the same point I just tried to. Angler's Workshop has been around for ages and will be around for ages. They are in the custom rod building business and wouldn't sell a wrapper or tool that wasn't good. Shop smart and shop safe.

Here's my .02 worth. Take it or leave it. You have a ton of sponsors to the left that sell similar rod wrapping units. The ones from Flex Coat for example. They are in the business to do this and will be around after the sale in case you run into any problems. With @#$%& you need to ask yourself where will this guy be if the wood splits in a year or something doesn't line up right or you have any

Mine came in the mail this morning. How about everybody else letting us know when theirs is here so we can discuss it. How will we know when all ten thousand or whatever have gotten theirs??
Didn't see any shredded money on the cover of mine but sounds like a good and expensive idea. Wonder who will be the first to cut up hundreds. How much would that add to the price of the rod?
