I'm looking to build a couple panfish specific sticks. Crappie, perch, bluegills. Favorite techniques include pitching spinner jigs (beetle spins, roadrunners, etc) and hair/mylar jigs under a float. Also some dropshot for deeper fish. Does anyone have any recommendations on a good longer blank that will cast 1/32 - 1/16oz jigs (on 3-4# nanobraid or 4# suffix advance) ? Something along the

I've not built on any NFC blanks as of yet - and of course am attracted to the X-Ray LMX line - particularly the DS 721 as a possible ' all around walleye' and even smallmouth bass in northern lakes kind of blank. The MB692 has my attention though - and I can't find much for reviews on this one. Can anyone offer their thoughts on this blank, good applications, better NFC blanks in the lineup fo

Great find Roger! Adding to my cart now lol. I typically use a single sided razor blade and don’t have issues, but this tool looks faster and easier!

96. Re: Ice Guides
99% of my builds are ice rods. Here are some of my thoughts:
1) Ceramic inserts on any ice rod are detrimental to the build. These rods are spooled with 15-20# braid typically on 2000 class spinning reel. Cer

Maybe it's my OCD or something, but I can't imagine using a rod lathe to turn cork. the MESS in close proximity to where the thread and finish work takes place has my left eye twitching :-) I have a small Wen lathe that I turn my cork on. It can't do anything longer than about 8 inches, but that's plenty for my needs right now. It's light enough to carry outside on nice days and reduce shop c

When I first started building rods I started with Flex Coat. I tried LS Supreme and it was a definite upgrade in terms of clarity and perhaps pot life. I tried Gen 4 and it was a complete game changer. That sounds dramatic, but it’s true. I now have the epoxy that is so easy to use that it helped my confidence enough that I turned my hobby into a small (ok, tiny) business. The workability, b

I didn’t explain myself well - but yes, that’s what I’m trying to do. I think the 15.5mm ID Minima is the answer. Thanks!

Does anyone know if any of the readily available spinning seat inserts on the market will mate up well with (any size) Pac Bay Minima spinning seats? I like the seat design and would like to build some personal ice rods with themT
Thank you!
