@ Daryl It would be on topic. It wouldn't be nonsensical at all. If I were to go back to a good thread with an idea, look at it through my lense, and apply another angle to the discussion then it would be well worth while for the whole community potentially. I wouldn't be bringing up Phil E posts. Although, those who don't take things too literal can see value in some of his discussion as it d

Before the last few years rodbuilding.org was not the first place that organically showed in the results. NFC wasn't the easiest to find either. I am sure it is your team that we can congratulate for a job well done. Preserving this community is what everyone here should strive for.

I personally rarely open the catalogues I receive. I actually just used the recent Mudhole offering to sign documents on so I wouldn't scratch my table. Then to the burn pile. Growing up in the digital age, I carry all the catalogues with me almost everywhere I go. Self admittedly, I spend too much time looking at them in places where my legs go numb from sitting there too long. I am sure thos

I am getting in here a bit late. Good read. I am extremely similar to El. His description of himself nearly matched how I would describe myself. I think this forum definitely gets the job done. No doubts there. Keeping momentum in an organization is very hard yet quite essential. What that looks like is now up to the new owners. I have no reason not to trust them in their vision for mainta

I am happy with my mystery box. I bought one because I wanted to try some of the other lines. Also, the mystery nature of the box will help me hone my CCS and rod building skills. The first blank I pulled out of the box was labeled 43 which is an SM MB662. I was very pleased with it after flexing it they way I do on all my new blanks prior to actual testing. I ended up finding five of the

I worked on rod after rod in a pursuit of the perfect flip and pitch rod for the Coosa River water willow. Generic flip and pitch rods seemed tailored to places like the stereotypical Florida grass and Texas brush. They were too heavy for the light cover grasses of my local lakes and could not present the bait to the Coosa Spotted Bass in the best manner.

Mine came same as yours. No creases but not straight. I am sandwiching mine and will frame it pressed between panes. I was expecting it to be in the tube since rolled docs can be flattened easy.

I made a custom oak stand that holds all rods vertical with nothing on the tips. The highest point of contact is near the stripper guides. Here is an old photo of when I first got it and put all my old rods on to test it out. I guess I need to get the app to make the phone length photo not get blown out. Sorry for the quality. I make sure no tension is on lines and anymore I completel

Patrick, To simply answer your last question, no. The tip and for a few running guides will be the same. Once you hit your choker on the spinning the spacing will be dependent on what system you use. In the span of what would be the first two guides from the reel on a casting rod you will likely have two to three guides in something like KR layouts for a spinning rod. My suggestion is to do a KR

It does extremely well.

Has anyone been updated on the status of shipment for the new C602? Figured I would ask here before sending an email or making a call. Thanks.

I am building a house with a new work area. Sadly this has me too busy to build. My commemorative build once I move in will hopefully be the C602 if it comes in before 2023.

It is not as good at transmitting bottom as the full carbon lineup. Without real measurement best I can do is an anecdotal example. With the SJ736 you will feel every branch, rock, shell, blade of grass, fish poot...etc. With the zentron blend the NEO will transmit those moving bait bites and tugs but I don't have as much obstacle transmitted to my arm when bumping things with my spinnerbait. I would recommend it most for moving baits. I would like a stronger tip for setting hooks on the techniques I use for bottom contact.

IMO the NEO (765) is one of the exceptions to the rule where CCS does not paint a complete picture. While it is a fast AA the recovery is much different than most blanks of that AA. It is also quite strong in the back. I just decided to buy a few and test them the old fashioned way. On the water! You can most definitely isolate and measure individual sections of the blank using the CCS method.

Patrick, The NEO is plenty sensitive. I hate to give up too much juice but, I have been having a lot of success with a split tail spinnerbait trailer specifically for how the NEO moves it. The NEO tip allows it to have a unique start up action that other rods like the SJ736 doesn't have. I love the SJ736 for so many things. For spinnerbait and chatterbait I have chosen the NEO over it be

I throw mine on the X-ray NEO MB765. I have one at full length and one cut down to 7'2". Amazing blank for this application. I love the way I can rip through grass but keep fish pinned once hooked. So my vote goes to a NEO cut how you prefer.
