I've used Fusion on radio controlled boats and it works well on the right plastics. They have to be plastics that the paint will adhere to like ABS, Styrene etc. There is a solvent in the paint that "bites" into the surface fusing it to the surface. It works really well, but one warning, on the radio control forums, I read of many instances where top-coating fusion resulted in orange

I'm with Spencer, I've tried Okuma because of the specs and price, but found them to be heavy and just not as refined as Shimano or Daiwa. Having said that, for the $50-60 or so that they cost on @#$%&, they are a decent reel. As you can tell, many reels, many opinions. It's like asking "what's the best blank". Good luck

I had both Stradics, the 1000 and the 2500. I think both could be used well for bass, although the 1000 would benefit from a superline (with mono leader) to get some extra line on the spool. Another thing to consider is the handle knob. The 1000 has a rubberized "I" knob, which I prefer to the "T" handle of the 2500. I wish manufacturers would make the knobs interchangable

I'm a bit of a reel junkie, i've bought and sold over 30 reels in the past couple years. I've kept those that have impressed. What I have noticed is that the reels i keep always seem to be Daiwa or Shimano. In my opinion, these two companies can't be touched in reel quality. (St. Croix reels are made by Daiwa). Do you hae a price range in mind? I second the recommendation for the Stradic r

I've already placed my order with Richards Rod and Reel, looking forward to putting these to the test. This project was originally going to use the Fuji T-ATSG single leg guides, but the specs and price of the Titans won out. Thanks for your efforts, looking forward to the Carbon tubed handles. Mark

I do it like the Steves, and then as Bill does, I add a coat of finish (I use varathane) so that the thread goes on easier. I have a heck of a time getting my thread to lay down nice and pack tight on the cork surface, seems easier for me when it is smoother with a coat of finish.

St.Croix blanks come with a second separate decal stapled to the package on new blanks. You can contact St.Croix and see if they will send you another one. Don't try peeling the butt label off and re-using it. It will not work.

Hi folks, Have any of you received a liquidation price list from Rich? I've sent him several emails and haven't gotten a response, so I'm thinking my emails may not be getting to him? He is usually very prompt with emails. Rich, if you read this I'd like a copy of the liquidation price list and I also desperately need a 3.5 chrome fly tip top. Got any? Mark

I've been searching for 3 years... no luck. I could never understand why the companies that make gold reel seats, gold butt caps and gold guides wouldn't make a gold check. I hope you have some success. Best Fishes,

My apologies, I didn't realize that Bozeman was in Montana. I assumed it was another town in Minnesota, that is why I offered my "great lakes region" experience. I agree, for the "River runs through it" waters of Montana a 5wt would likely be a great choice. I should have checked my geography before I answered.

I use the Pac Bay removable fighting butt hardware and build the butt on that, to look right on the particuler rod. Then, you can simply unscrew the butt and add washers. I like this way because the weight is not fixed and you can adjust as you see necessary.

When I compare a Forecast single foot ceramic fly guide side by side with the same size V-guide, my eye says the v-frame is lighter. The legs of the v frame look much thinner and contain less material, and also the metal ring around the ceramic insert is thinner on the v frame. These two combined and I would bet the v frames are quite a bit lighter. Whether this makes a noticable difference on

Depends alot on what size of trout. I do alot of trout fishing here in Ontario and most of the catch is in the 8"-15" range, with 15" and up being a rare catch. I have really liked fishing a 3 wt on the streams here, which include some larger water, but mostly water you can wade right across. Just last night I was going through some of my rods and did some yard casting of a 7'

Personally, I use the v-style on all my spinning rods AND fly rods. I agree that they 'look' lighter, although I have never had that confirmed. The v frame looks to have less material than the wide single leg on the fly guide. Also I find it easier to get finish to flow into the tunnel and around the guide leg. Mark

I agree with Tom, I find that any type of flash, even bounced tends to give me undesirable results. I like to light my rods with 3 lights minimum, and shoot using a tripod. I just use simple desk lamps with incandescent bulbs, but be aware that this requires adjustment of the white balance (or excellent 'auto' white balance) or photos will look too orange.

Hi everyone, long time no type. I finally found some time to finish up a few rods that I've had on my bench since we moved in August. One of these rods is screaming for a set of Fuji T-ATSG guides. I did a search and found very little info on them. So far I can only locate a set for sale at Japan Tackle, but I'd rather buy from a board sponsor. Does anyone stock these?? Sorry if this has

Hi all, I can't speak about this with the technical expertise that the others have. Last year I bought a Megabass rod, a special edition Casting Rod, pretty high up their line, and I can attest that there is something very special going on in these rods. The feel of the rod is like nothing I have felt in my own personally built rods or any other North American rod I have tried. Whether or

I am a big fan of Sony digital cameras. I'm on my 4th generation of their top of the line camera F series camera. An important feature to have is adjustable white balance. Having the correct white balance setting is crucial to acheiving accurate colour results. In the price range that you are considering, you can get a camera with about 5 different white balance settings. One of those shou

Hey fellow Ontarians! I didn't realize the webmasters were in my neighborhood. Come on, I'm still up working, although a rum and coke and a good night sleep sounds good. I prefer the old "look" too but my wife always says I'm resistant to change. We do need a larger font... Good night from Campbellville Ontario. Mark
