David, How stiff is the tip on the MB 736 X ray? I believe I made a mistake when describing the action I want. I want a soft tip. There's not a great way to describe that non-quantifiable(through CCS or RDA) quality and in my ignorance coined it as a "moderate side of fast". If the rod has a soft tip with a fast action, it would be ideal. I just received the REV610MLXF blank

Phil, Yes, I do mean a revolving spool reel, specifically a bass oriented low profile baitcaster like a Shimano Curado K or Daiwa Tatula SV. I plan on using one of those two specific models for this rod. I will be using 20 - 30lb braided line(Daiwa J-Braid x8) with 6 - 10ft of 8 - 10lb leader. I will likely stick with a co-polymer leader for this all purpose rod. The braided line is the

I think $200 for the Eternity2 Blanks might be too much for me. The NFC blanks are half off right now, hence my consideration at $125 per blank.

Thanks for the inputs! Any other suggestion from non-retailers? I'd really like to hear about the Point Blank, NFC, or any other brand and model to consider. I'm leaning towards the 1/4oz to 3/4oz rating. I'm thinking that the Dobyns Sierra is a lighter blank than rated, because the rod feels most comfortable when I'm throwing 1/4oz - 3/8oz. Any closer to 1/2oz and I feel that it's starting

While I'm waiting for my dropshot blank and components to come in, I'm searching for a good option for an all around casting blank. Here are the criteria I'm looking for, what I'll use it for, and the options I've found so far. Criteria -Light Build around 3.5 to 4oz total built -6'10" - 7'2" Length -Lure Range around 1/4oz - 1oz -Preferably a Slightly moderate side of Fast Acti

Thomas, That's how I'm feeling about my IMMS68ML. It's about as powerful that my Daiwa Tatula 6'8" Spinning Rod Medium Power Fast Action rated for 1/8-3/4oz. I really hope that the REV610ML is quite a bit softer I think the IMMC72M might still be a good option for my use where I want a slightly heavier power than a traditional medium, but not as powerful as a traditional Medium Heavy

David, The IP for the IMMC72MH seems quite a bit higher than I expected at the lure range specified, but I'm new to rod building and I'm not sure if that's just my perception or a norm. I assume standard range is the following for bass rods around the 7' mark? ML=300g-500g for 1/8oz-3/8oz M=500g-700g for 1/4oz to 3/4oz MH=700g-900g for 3/8oz to 1oz H=900g-1200g for 1/2oz to 1 1/2oz I

Looks clean! But like I mentioned before, I already ordered the Revelation blank. If I build anything from NFC, it'll likely be a all around casting rod. Looking for something around 1/4 - 1oz around 7 foot. I'm already leaning towards another Revelation at that price as it I see a few models from NFC that might work: -SJ736-1(X-Ray LMX) with 1-3 inches cut off -SJ706-1(IM) -MH666-1(HM

Too late, did not realize that the price in cart is different from the price listed. I thought NFC blanks were way outside of my price range. I may look into one for a casting rod soon.

I went ahead and bought the following. I'll try to remember to update this post when I finish the build and go fishing a few times. Michael, I did visit anglersresource and go through the KR software to determine the guide sizes. Thank you for the suggestions on the guides. I felt like I was being a bit ridiculous buying guides that are more expensive than the blank. I've changed my order to KLH16 SS Alconite, KLH8 SS Alconite, KL5.5M Titanium SiC, 4.5KB Ti SIC, 4.5KT Ti SiC runners, with 4.5 Ti SIC LG Tiptop. Just rep

Spencer, Looks like I can't find those rods in stock at the retailers. Angler's Workshop and Getbit both have a couple week wait for them to custom order it. Michael, Thank you for your input on the Immortal! That's exactly the type of feedback I was hoping to get. I had a chance to talk to Karry Batson over the phone a few days ago and he suggested the REV610MLXF over the Immortal as well. He suggested the Immortal for fishing open water rather than from the bank. He also suggested their ML Inshore blank for people who prefer moderate fas

I use mosquito hooks for the smaller baits when I want the soft plastic to swing freely or throwing it next to a dock piling. If I want to throw it next to or along a weed edge, I'll often throw it on a 1/0 or size 1 EWG or a worm hook and Texas rig it.

I'm looking for a 6'8" to 7'2" drop shot rod blank for pond fishing and possibly kayak fishing in the future. I built a ML Fast Rainshadow Immortal 6'8" thinking that it would have a similarly soft tip, but found it to be too stiff for drop shot. However, it's a great Ned Rig(1/10oz head), shaky head, or wacky rig rod, so I will be keeping it. I've searched around the foru
