I fish the Canadian side of Ontario. I built a couple of rods on the Rainshadow RX4 BP 1025 blanks and have been happy with the rods. MHX has a line of rigger rods that are more affordable. As Tom says spiral wrap. I use the slick butts for rear grips with the channel lock reel seats. Also because I fish out of a 18 foot Lund I keep the rods shorter, 7 to 8 1/2 feet.

Thanks. Being a novice builder when I buy nylon I know if I want to keep the color of the thread I need CP. Looking forward to using the threads.

I recently inherited some spools of Gudebrod's champion thread. These are 1 ounce wooded spools that are marked Nylon on one end and stamped NCP on the other end. I am going to test the thread, just wondering why the spools are marked both.

My son was recently given 2 Pezon et Michel 7 foot 4 inch bamboo rods in need of some guide repair. There appears to be varnish on the guide thread as opposed to epoxy. Can I retie and use epoxy on the guides? Also the finish on the rod is worn off in a few places. Is practical to strip and sand the rod and refinish? Thanks for any help.

Will give that a try. Made a 2 piece block out of hickory with a hole slightly larger than the diameter of the male ferrule . Had the rod flat on a table with the trigger of the reel seat hooked on the end of the table. One person holding the rod down, me pulling on the other end while my son beat on the block . Started to imbed the female end into the hickory block. Have been trying ever sugge

Still working on the rod. Tried the reverse clamp with no success. The rod is a 13 foot Raven float rod in three pieces. It is taken apart every time. My son was fishing the St. Mary's river and the rod got submerged . It has been stuck since.

My son's float rod will not come apart at the first ferrule. I was going to remove the ferrule wrap on the female side and try a bit of heat. Any help would be appreciated . .

Just built 2 Rain shadow dipsy rods with slick grips. They are great. Going to cut the EVA grips off my remaining down rigger rods this winter and replace them with Slick Grips.

Also, do yourself a favor and use a Slick Grip for the rear. Comes out of the holder much better.

The main reason for wire line on Lake Ontario is the water fleas. Braid is fine until the fleas show up as the water warms. They cling to the braid and you end up with pipe cleaner all the way down the line that clogs the tip. Wire line saws right through them.

This a request for Tom Kirkman. What is the delivery time for a cd? I live in Canada and have a friend in Gulfport MS until the end of Feb. Would This time frame be possible? I emailed the magazine site but have not had a reply. Thanks
