Good excuse to make yourself a new rod! Out with the old in with the new.

If it is stuck from river silt or minerals and it was my rod I would try a soak of Marvel Mystery Oil for a couple of days. It works on everything else that has been locked up from corrosion.

Hello All.

We used to get rotor heads on H-46 helicopters stick to their shafts, so we used to soak over night in Kroil Oil, and in the morning we just lifted them off.
You could try that also.

Good Luck.

Place the rod on a padded chair bottom with the ferrule on the pad, roll the rod apply in pressure on both ends causing the rod to bend in the middle. The one that I had stuck was a 9x9 G Loomis 3pc Cross Current fly rod. I tried the ice and every type of lubricant that I could find. I used all thread with washers and nuts between the guides as a spreader. Nothing worked. I thought that every time a rod come apart while fishing that it must have been due to the flexing Then I started flexing the rod and rolling it on a padded stool It broke loose. Good Luck.

Will give that a try. Made a 2 piece block out of hickory with a hole slightly larger than the diameter of the male ferrule . Had the rod flat on a table with the trigger of the reel seat hooked on the end of the table. One person holding the rod down, me pulling on the other end while my son beat on the block . Started to imbed the female end into the hickory block. Have been trying ever suggestion with no success yet. Thanks.

You mentioned this was submerged before the ferrule got stuck. Maybe try soaking it in vinegar for a couple of days. It may have dried together with deposits from the water "bonding" the halves and vinegar could maybe dissolve that. Probably a long shot, but maybe worth a try...
