I am looking to replace the guides on my Fenwick 140 rod. I believe they are called Aetna Foul proof guides. I measured the inside diameter and they are 20mm, 13.5mm, 7.6mm, 6mm, I would like to find them all but the 7.6 is in very bad shape. Anyone know where I can find these guides?

Guess I was putting it out their, for those on fixed income like myself. It can be expensive to have hobbies if I can save a buck and put it towards something like fishing, rod building and reel restoration. Although I wouldn't use a product that was less expensive, that didn't work.

44. Off the subject
This is off the subject of building. I see in many post, that people use braid line for different things. So I assume many fish with it I do as well, inland saltwater. I have always used Pro Line, after seeing an ad on facebook for Hercules braid. It's a Pro Line knock off from China. I decided to try it at half the price of Pro Line, I have not had a problem at all with it, very strong, my go t

I asked a friend to date your rod, he's a vintage collector. He told me once you get to "Abu Garcia" that's past 1981. "My catalogs (by Charles Garcia and then Garcia Corp.) run from 1953 through 1981". Hope that helps narrow it down. Might want to change your signature from cought to caught.

I'm still in the research stage of rod building, hopefully in the next two weeks I'll order a building kit. I am 67 years young, and have always wanted to build a rod. Looking at the videos it looks easy. But after joining this forum, I am taking a lot of notes, and still a lot of it is hard to decipher, just overwhelming. I will start with replacing guides. My hobby has been collecting and resto

I am just about to start getting equipment to start rod building. But I thought i'd chime in on corrosion. I fish saltwater mostly spin reels. I coat the whole reel inside and out, and metal guides with corrosion block grease ( it's water proof ) overnight. Than I wipe it down the next day, I do hose them down first. I collect and restore Mitchell reels. CORROSION BLOCK GOOD STUFF

I am new to all this! I have always wanted to build a rod. I do a lot of freshwater (Trout) and saltwater fishing (Flounder). I am ordering a build kit next week. I will want to jump right in a build, and fish the rod, before the middle of Sept (Flounder season ends). So here is what I want to build. 7' to 7 1/2' light fast action saltwater rod. I use from 1/2 oz. to 1 1/2 oz. weight. Consider th

Hello
I am new to all this. In fact I'm only researching, what equipment and supplies to get. I have given some thought to how to label a rod. I will be repairing and building rods mainly for myself. My thought is a clear corner mailing label or sticker, with my signature print it at any copy center (cut it to size). Apply to the rod, and a light coat of clear coat.
