This is off the subject of building. I see in many post, that people use braid line for different things. So I assume many fish with it I do as well, inland saltwater. I have always used Pro Line, after seeing an ad on facebook for Hercules braid. It's a Pro Line knock off from China. I decided to try it at half the price of Pro Line, I have not had a problem at all with it, very strong, my go to braid line. Just thought i'd put it out their.

Lots of good braid out there to day , I like Hitena brands real thin , after buying a boat , tackle , taking a day off from work, an traveling the miles to the water, I will spend a little more for my line , an have a good line on my rod , have never looked back , ,

Braid and terminal tackle are the few things that i refuse to skimp and try to save money on , lots of other things sure but not that stuff. Many people think just like Don though and it turns out fine so to each their own.

Guess I was putting it out their, for those on fixed income like myself. It can be expensive to have hobbies if I can save a buck and put it towards something like fishing, rod building and reel restoration. Although I wouldn't use a product that was less expensive, that didn't work.

Is the cost of braid in the long run that material? I feel like I go through much more mono each season and won't use anything but my favorites (and mono is getting more expensive each year) - but I haven't replace the braid on my reels for years and transfer it to new reels. I mostly use braid as a backing or straight braid with a short top shot of floro and don't fish where abrasion is a major issue. I think I have braid backing that is 10+ years old and I still trust it if I hook a big fish - since my drag setting is always checked.
