Awesome thanks for the advice guys!
Great ideas to look at.
I might try the basic set up of 12v to converter and run the dryers off that as an uninterrupted power source.
My deep cycle batteries on the boat are due for removal soon and these would be perfect. 150AH combined should be plenty to run drying motors or a light and lathe if needed.
Cheers

Has anyone successfully set up some kind of backup power system for a dryer?
Power outages due to strongs winds and trees are far to common in my area.
I got lucky not long ago as I had just finished last coat and we lost power. Was able to rotate by hand :-(
Was thinking of a battery system that would kick in if power went out?
Cheers

Hi guys, I have searched far and wide in the forum but couldn't find much info.
Looking at gluing some cork and EVA together to make fancy grips :) From what I've gathered contact cement is the way to go.
I'm in Australia so weldwood is not available. Would any marine (waterproof) contact cement work?
Does the colour of the dried glue come through on the joins?
Cheers

No probs Jonathan. I have two toddler fishos to contend with so my response will most probably be delayed haha

A 6500 saltist is a big reel for 20lb. I know your looking at max line capacity specially with mono but a 5000 would be excellent
Like Herb suggested a topshot would be perfect. 5000 size is one of my favourite reels. The 5000 saltist holds 400m (480yrd) of 40LB PE4 braid. If you hunt around there is some very thin braid with high breaking strain where you could easily get 500m plus of 40lb.

Don't think Mud Hole wouldn't be making up the ProKote kits as ProKote themselves supply the single Rod syringe kits. Hopefully you can reach out to Mud Hole or ProKote so they can track product and stop it happening to more people which I'm pretty sure it has.

Hahahaha! Herb your not wrong. Lower back, forearms and pretty much all over body disfigurement is guaranteed :)
Thanks for the tip on the guides! Yes that 40 is very high and heavy. You can really feel the weight of it when playing around with the top section. Hopefully I can remove the guides with little damage to the clear coat.

Hi Denham, Good to see another GT enthusiast!
Im building a medium top water rod very soon. CTS Seamaster PE4-6. Just setting up my new workshop. I have a topwater trip in Fiji booked for March 2020
I have a Pe 8 factory built rod which uses the same guide train minus a 12 in the stainless SIC KW. Great action on the blank but those guides are heavy! Add a Saltiga Dogfight 8000H with 400m o

Wasn't this issue mentioned in a previous post or on a recent facebook group post ?
Looks like there might be a batch of both syringes containing the base.
I'd contact Pro Kote directly.

Thanks Herb,
Haven't started yet just getting my order together. Big fan of the Torzite. Notice a big difference when fighting donkey fish on 15kg plus drag. Everything is feels smooth!
I've decided to go with size 10 runners.. Possible that I will run 200lb in reefy shallow water chasing GT, Coral Trout etc. ID on the 8 torzite is 6.4mm. My gut feeling is its a bit small for larger leader

Thanks for the input Herb!
I'll be using the 5000h saltiga or the Expedition 5500 with up to 150lb leader and the fg knot.
Turns out I have a 25,20 and 16 in the KW Torzite left over from a bungled order where they sent me the wrong sizes and didn't want them returned.. Internet shopping at its finest :) Score!
Think I'll work with these and save a few dollars :)
Whats the reasoning b

Hi guys looking at using the RV and KW guide system on a top water rod. Have never used the RV guides and their heights are different to the KW.
Trying to work out the best combo and wanted to run it past you to see if I'm on the money.
The rod I'm building is the CTS Seamaster PE 4-6. 8'3" Stick Bait. (Superb blank and so are their rod tubes!)

Cheers for the comments guys.
As suspected it was most probably rumors and @#$%& talk that has been passed around.

Hi there guys,
Has anyone heard about or seen a TKW guide bend, distort etc from heavy use? I've heard that this can happen with stripper guides on heavy (PE8 -10) top water rods...
I've seen some newer models of top water rods coming from the likes of MC Works in Japan using the RV guide as strippers. Thought this might have been a solution to this possible issue.
I have a set on a CTS

Thanks Donald, I'll persevere with it. It does level extremely well. Lucky this rod is for me! The next build is not. I might go back to Thread Master for that one until I've mastered the ProKote.

49. ProKote tips
Hi guys, My first post here.
I've just started using PK original. Looking for any tips on the best way to use it. I've been using Thread Master for the last few years and thought I'd try ProKote in the warmer weather (Australia) to get the extended working time (which is awesome) I'm finding it quite thin and still not happy with coverage with a third coat on some of my guides. I'm using a 6
