This white polyester pearl has been outside for over a week now. It has been coated but I am sending some off for further testing down south. A few spots in the small grip were missed with the coating and it shows.

I am relocating very soon (this month). Moving from the Chicago area to San Diego area. I will be using Fedex for shipping. What is the best way to pack rods? Schedule 40 PVC pipe?

I have seen photos of a different decorative add on to rods called G- Urushi. Looks pretty nice too. But, I have not seen any write ups on how to do this technique. Does anyone have a tutorial on this. Material list? And how to complete.

Looking forward to this gathering. I already requested the day off so I hope my boss hurry's up and signs off on it. I would hate to call in sick that day.

I have built on both of those blanks. I have fished the 1024 and like it a lot for steelhead and cohos here in northwest Indiana. In the narrow streams here with a lot of timber in the water, It would be a huge task to land a 20 lb. king here. I have recently built another rod ( ST1025) for this purpose.

Turning a cork grip while on the blank is ok, but, what happens when you make a mistake while turning that grip? I turn mine on a Jet Mini lath. If I make a mistake turning on the mandrel, just use a parting tool to cut off the bad and then add the new rings. No big disaster in my opinion.

I am look for an article in RM on rod breakage. It explains how rods were broke in different ways. Does anyone remember which issue?
