May be someone can give me an answer Which 2 pcs blank would be identical or nearly identical to RCLB80XL? It has to be 2 sections due to transportation issues. Thanks

I finished 8.6 rod built on 4 pcs fly blank as spinning not long time ago. Also had 11 guides, but the reel was slightly larger, if i remember 45 mm or so. My layout was very similar to what you got.

Dremel tool with smal sanding disc. Just prepped 11 casting guides yesterday, took about 5 minutes. Works great for me.

Do you mean sticky glue residue? If so, simple paper towel soaked in any cooking oil, olive or whatever oil you use in the kitchen, will remove it. Let it stay where the spot is for a minute or so, then just wipe off with the same towel. When removed completely wipe off with dry paper towel, then clean with alcohol.

Thank you guys. I guess i will leave that rod as is for now, but inform my friend about possibility of failure. If he wants to correct the issue i willl redo all the guides. My misconception of the described test was that i thought the test described in the library is for guide placement when there is no spacing chart is available. I ve used it for my casting and two spinning rods for which

I must have done it wrong. I attached the reel with line and ran it through the guides, then loaded the rod. But after adjustment the line and the blank were matched perfectly.

Tom, the flat spot was in fact on the male section of the blank below the ferrule. The guide has been moved down from original location on the ferrule to about 2-2.5 inches. Also, i slightly adjusted the stripping guide. The top section of the blank was left the same as initially placed. I had 13 guides plus one more high frame in a place of tiptop.

I usually put the guide on a ferrule. In this case it was creating a flat spot there. I could probably move the rest of guides to adjust it, but decided to do just one guide instead. Now, should i redo all the guides and move them arronud to place that guide on the ferrule or just leave it as is? My buddy lives 3 hrs away and even if get the rod here i won't have time to finish it for the star

Hi guys. I decided to get an expert opinion on the issue i encountered just recently. Early this year I built a rod for my friend, as a gift for his 55th BD. It is a steelhead centerpin rod built on Rainshadow XST 1562 blank with single-foot high frame Alps guides with zirconium inserts. Rod was build on the the belly side of the spine. Rod is 13 ft 2 pcs. Initially I used Batson guide spacing c

I use multicoloured glitter from Michaels. In fact, just 30 min ago put second coat of epoxy mixed with glitter, over the first clear coat. Then will do one more without it. As stated, you dont need much of it. It will sparkle more after you put a coat or two over it. I used it over cobalt blue, looks nice. Other good combinations i had- candy apple, black, dark green, royal blue, charcoal.

Thanks guys. 50 lbs fish is not a target for this rod, but it is possible. I have different shorter and stiffer travel rod, 7 ft 3 pcs. TFO in 20-50 lbs range. The casting weight, however, is what i am looking at. I stated lure in original post, but really should have said "casting weight". Lets refrase it- the lead and bait totalling to 1 oz. If throwing lures- probably up to 3/4 oz,
