They are the Gold framed Fugi turbo guides with the hardloy rings.
Sorry, they are RLG not LRG. The gold frames are GLRLG.

Anyone have any gold RLG guides in 16, 12, AND 10?
Thanks

At what point does making rods for family and friends become a business? By that I mean, what is the $ amount that makes it more than a hobby...profit wise.

38. Re: heat gun
I've had my Milwaukee 8975-6 duel temp heat gun for about 10 years...still works like new. Pretty reasonably priced at Home Depot.

Mud hole has some basic "how-to" articles here -
There are a couple of articles that outline how to layout your wraps there. I'm sure there are tons of other publications that explain it out there, but that's a start.

If you can't find a perfect match, maybe do a fade with colors a bit lighter to a bit darker.

I take credit payments every day and sometimes I have to give refunds...it takes about 20 seconds.
You should have had your money back within 3 days.

Thanks Jim, I see the calculations you did for the 450ssg and Pursuit 4000. I may just have to wing it.

Does anyone have the GPS measurements for a PENN BATTLE 4000? I'm building a rod for a guy and he needs it by next Tuesday. He doesn't have the reel to measure and I don't have access to one.

I am about to do the same on a 12-25 lb inshore rod, but won't have the guides till Monday. Tape it up and give it a cast, then report back...

Call Mudhole and ask them. They have the thread and the camo on hand.

I picked up some razor blades from a beauty supply shop...the blades that hair sylists use to do razor cuts with. They are longer and thinner than a regular razor blade and IMO about 10 times sharper!
Literally just toutch the thread and it's cut as clean as a whistle.
Here's a picture of them...

The Everglades are full, and I mean FULL of frogs! At least it was in the late 70s - early 80s...

Nice...I miss gigging frogs from the airboat in my younger days. Those are some of the best memories I have of spending time with my dad. We could gig a couple of hundred of those suckers in just a few hours. Good times

I don't know what reel you are using, but you are going to find that you will need at the very LEAST a 16, and probably a 20 stripper guide. You are going to need some clearance from the blank on the first guide. I wouldn't go smaller than 8 for any others...including the top.

I have been doing a bunch of marbling and I actually prefer the flowing and clouding you get when you use heat. You can move some parts more than others and create waves and lines much like the patterns in Cipollino marble. Just my preference I guess...
Oh, the finish turns out perfectly flat too. One top coat and you're good to go.

55. Re: Best Guides
Fuji Alconite KW stripper guide then go to the KL then KT. Affordable, functional, and IMO more ascetically pleasing than all two foot guides on a spinning rod. Just my opinion...

I have used three finishes, Flex Coat, ProKote, and Threadmaster. The long curing time of ProKote seems to lend itself to more "footballing" or "wandering" as you describe it. IMO, you put too much finish on and the turning forces pushed it to the path of least resistance.
IF you are indeed level, it is the ONLY explanation. IMO, you used too much finish for the type used

57. Re: Help Needed
I know there is a correct way, but I have been starting the main wrap, with 2 seperate pull loops in place. Once I have about 6 -10 wraps down, I pull the first end of the trim through, make the trim wrap, and pull the other end through making sure to block the thread where i want it to pull through. It works and it's pretty easy after ther first few.

Looks like they discontinued the 5 and 6 C cell Maglights. Longest C cell is a 4, however...I looked at the specs and found that the 4 cell barrel is about 11" long and you can buy it seperate for about $9.00.
I may try it just for kicks.
