I stand corrected on the GL3 blank. You're right, the GL3 is a hair lighter than the IMX but to be honest with you I normally prefer fast action rods so I would probably replace it if I had the chance. Those two NFC blanks sure look to be very nice candidates and I will definitely give them a try in the near future. Right now, I am working on a couple of projects including a Rogue HS795 b

Jim, I might have used the term incorrectly but what I mean was a blend of various modulus graphite sheets not blended with glass. I have also heard the same thing that the Greenwater rods are a GL3 with a bad paint job LOL. Are you positive these are the exact same blank or very close. Do you happen to know the blank specs for the HS9000 IMX. Thanks

Russ, I have a G. Loomis GWR9000S which is supposed to be a watered down (blended) version of the HS9000 IMX blank, that could be an interesting match up between this rod and the MHX. I went to Swampland Tackle website trying to see if I could find the specs for the Castaway P704 but I didn't see it, could you point me in the right direction. I will give you a shout whenever I am ready to go up t

Jim, I did a quick google search and found a few pictures of a finished rod matched with a Stradic CI4 which would be the same reel I'll be using and they look really cool together. Gudebrod Garnet or Silver wraps, split grip with a few winding checks and it is good to go.

Donald, I am currently on the same boat thrying to decide which color thread to use on this same blank and I was wondering if you could post or send me a few detailed pictures of these rods you've built using this Aquamarine metallic thread. I would really appreciate it. Thanks, Pedro

Russ, I am by FIU on 8th street. I appreciate the offer maybe we can meet sometime in the near future. Could you post or email me the blanks you wanted to show me. Jim, my first though was to go with the XP844 and I think you just confirmed my suspicions. The only thing I did not like about the XP blank is that it is painted but yet again I have never seen it in person.

Hi, I would like to purchase a new popping blank to use for inshore species here is SE Florida and I have narrowed my selection to a couple of blanks. I have no way to handle these blanks in person prior to ponying up the money so I am going to need your input in order to make an educated decision. The two blanks I am interested in are the Lamiglas XMG50 LP843/4 and Rainshadow RX8 XP843/4. My pri

WOW, a day an a half later and almost 200 watchers and not a single member has been able post the specs or weight for a Fuji ACSM reel seat or any other type of seat for that matter. I didn't know you guys were so well preserved. I guess no one has seats any longer since the invention of the tennessee handle. LOL

Bill Stevens, I never doubted you on the 35% weight reduction. I just wanted to find out the actual weight of the reel seat but I guess you don't know it or don't want to post it. As you can see I started a thread earlier today with the full specs for all of the reel seat I currently have and I asked other members to add some of theirs. I like to find out about this kind of things and keep a r

Tom, I totally understand what you're saying but I honestly feel that the spool design or spool lip material can definitely help a reel's casting distance as I have found this to be the case with Shimano's Propulsion spool lip design . I own both versions and the current models do cast further when using the same rod, line and casting weight, at least this has been my personal experience with the

I have small hands therefore I am happy with Fuji IPS, VSS and DPSM spinning reel seats in 16mm or 17mm, in that particular order. I still haven't tried the Aero Seat but it definitely looks cool though.

I found the following advertizing statements on their website. In their own words: "With my WaveSpinâ„¢ reel, you'll have the ability to cast farther than traditional spinning reels due to low friction as the line comes off the spool. And since it does not offload loops, it can be filled to a higher capacity, guaranteeing even longer casts." "Exclusive "WaveSpinâ„¢"

Hi, I just wanted to post the specs for some of the Fuji reel seats I currently have. Please feel free to add the specs for your reel seats too, especially Fuji ACSM because I do not have any of them at this time and I have heard they are a little bit heavier than the ECSM but I do not know by how much. Deluxe model specs would be nice too. Thanks Spinning: Fuji IPS-16 I.D. 15mm .591”

Russell, Only St. Croix SCV blanks and their offshore saltwater series are build with the new 3M NSi resin, not the inshore or any other series of rods. Pedro

Steven, I just finished using Permagloss for the first time a couple of weeks ago and all of the pieces came out very nice. Here's what I did, I got one of those 1" foam brushes you get from HD and the first thing I did was to removed the actual foam from the handle, I then poured some of the PG inside a small shot glass and filled it about half way or just enough liquid to coat the e

Tom, I am probably going to need at least 9 running guides on this rod and if I go with wire it looks like I could save a little bit of weight (1/2 gram) on top, specially at the tip. In your personal opinion, what would be the benefits of going with ceramic for the running guides vs wire. My main goal is to have a set up that works and that it is corrotion resistant. I am definitely and with

Herb, I sent you a PM about the guides you have fo sale. I do have a few Fuji Ti running guides as well as REC single foot spinning guides but I do not have a scale accurate enough to measure anything weighting less than 1g. I honestly thought a Fuji Ti weighted more of less the same as the REC guides but after doing a little bit of research on the net I found out that Fuji's TLSG6J single

Hi, I need some help deciding which of the following guide styles to use as a stripper on a St. Croix SC5 9'6" 8wt. The rod would be used for inshore fishing down here in South Florida and I am going to go with guide size 16, 12 or 10, TLSG6J for the running guides, TFST tip. What's your preference between Fuji's TLNSG or TYSG for the first couple of guides and why. How does one know if you

Bill, I know exactly what you mean, as a matter of fact I do have complete sets of spinning guides but they are all Fuji LV Concept style frame. This is actually my first time using the Batson VS3 spinning guide and I have many of them in all sizes except 25. I immediately noticed that these Batson guides are even higher than the Fuji Concept guides, they look to be stronger too, plus they ar

Roger, I am trying to use all Batson VS3 guides and I have tried every possible combination with the transition guides I have at hand 30, 20, 16, 12 and there's always one that's out of alignment. Tom, hit the nail on the head when he suggested the size 25 for the stripper and even though I do not have one at hand at this moment in time I did some ruff measurements and it looks like it is goi

Bill, This particular rod was originally 8' without any broken parts, the tip was broken and was left with a bottom section of 7' still intact so I made it into a 2 piece and it is now exactly 9' from top butt to tip. Most people recommend one guide per feet + one for a total of 10 on a 9' rod. Is this correct. The original 8' blank's tip was supposed to be a size 6 but the one I installed

I installed a total of 10 guides on this rod because that's what most people including the article recommend but to be honest with you I think I could easily remove 1 guide. The guides are pretty stacked up, from the rod's tip: 1st guide - 3", 2nd - 3.5", 3rd - 3.5", 4th - 4", 5th - 4.5", 6th - 5". Also, the stripper is only 20" from the spool lip. Do you guys t

Tom, I only fish with braid so the answer would be 40-50lb braid 95%+ of the time and a distant maybe 20-25lb mono. Thanks, Pedro
