Adam, I have just finished my second spiral wrap rod so I am still am learning, so here we go . 1. The reel , the line comes off the spool left to right and back to left . 2. When you cast right handed rod moves a little to left,hand turns left or down so the reel spool axis is vertical, line will pull off reel smoothly.

Tom, I am a retired salesman, I lived by what you just said '' Sell the sizzle,not the steak". The people that I am making rods for want the steak. ( QUALITY parts,workmanship,performance, balance and durability.) The sizzle is not so important any more. they want it don't want to pay for it . I am glad I don't to live off what I make on a rod build, but I do love to see the smile

Tom- I have a subscription to Rod-maker magazine, I truly love it .I must re new this week ,before I do, can you tell me what issue Jim Upton wrote about weaving/ I need to get it when I renew,ok? Again, thank you for the work you do for this Forum and Rod maker magazine,. You have given so much knowledge to so many of us I feel so lucky to have this forum . Richard

Tom Kirkman' I have also just got back in to rod building , I read you'r book " Rod-Building Guide"and was very pleased with how easy it is to follow. I later got a gift from my son of a book by Dale Clemens "Advanced Custom Rod building" , it came in the form of a Kindle reader ,(i think that is what they call it) it is hard to back up say 10or 20 pages to find

William, I found the wrap last week. I have made 2 rods for a friend . When he got the rod he asked me why I messed up the wraps . This is the 3rd and 4th rod I have made for him. I told him the wrap is now all I use on single wraps. Asked why.. This wrap will not pull out ., That's why Just one more selling point to make. Richard Curry Linegrabber Custom Rods

I have built 2 rods useing micro guides . I will charge double . I find them hard to keep ln line when wraping, wrap tight can't move to line up, wrap loose they, try to move they come off . I tryed glue that was a mess. I used ruber tubing that took to much time to get guides in line. I like the way the finished rod worked , got longer casts with less power in the cast..
