Roger, What do you use to keep Nylon thread from fading after epoxy has had time to harden over time? I had 2 of my rods fade out after 6 mos.I had to re wrap them at on charge. That was a hard way to learn to use at least 2 coats 15 min.apart, wait 24 hrs.before I put on the epoxy,, 1 coat high build or 2 thin coats 3to4 hr. apart,, that works good on may UL.rods.I don't use CP

Hi all ; I just got some grit from Mud Hole to replace the old sanding tape on my reamer. I have never done this before now. So what is the best way to remove the old tape from the reamer blank, I used contact cement to hold the tape to the rod blank. I like the rod blank and want to keep it . Also need to try to salvage a old rod reel seat, I don't have a drill press to drill

Paul, I have a rule of thumb when it comes to painting (epoxy) First dull the shine, clean dull with water, dry air, paint only when dry. Now If you are putting on a second coat, If it is a little tacky put second coat on,( use a plastic stick to check for tacky . NOT tacky ? Use Dull the shine. I hope that you got it . IF not email me [email protected]

Mark, NO NO never put a Urethane over Epoxy finish, if you do , when all has cured the finish will blister and that will make for a mess you don't want to mess with. What is Bullards @#$%&? I use Pro kote on all my rods, it takes about 5 to 7 days to cure out then I use some wood polish on the rod ( Guardsman Furniture Polish), Spray some on a clean dry rag , wipe ro

HI Matthew, I have just read all the replies to this topic, I must say I never knew there could be so much to talk about wrapping a guide. I was told if you do under wrap use A color fast threads, pack tight then place guides ,wrap with D threads under medium tension, make final alignment , one coat of lite epoxy , let dry on rod turner for 1 hr.,now put 1 coat of high build epoxy

Here we go, I was just given a Plate Type Reel seat, asked to put on a "SJ841-MHX" blank. Now I have a way to put the grips on , but the reel seat I'm not so sure about . Will PRO KOTE PASTE ADHESIVE on the ends , then over wrap with size D thread , then finish off with epoxy. Will that be strong enough to hold reel seat in place under pressure in fishing? Thank's for the help
