Thie wekend I did a cardinal sin and finished a very timeconsuning butt wrao with only RESIN and no hardner. I was in a hurry and getting more tired by the minute. Is thr any wsy to salvage my butt wrao or is it just a razor blade and start over. Don;t know if proper coat on topo will hlp it finish, or maybe a top coat of hardner will work. IUATED.aNY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

SIZE 6 MAY BE A LITTLE ON THE SMALL SIDE IMHO. I normally would start out wih a size 10 on a casting rod and larger on a spinning rod AND i GENERALLY TAPER DOWN AFTER THE STRIPPER TO 4'S or 6'Sb but that's just me and the way I was taught. Straight 6's after the stripper should work fine just not the way that I would start. If you're just starting out you might as well learn the right way. Good

tHE MOST IMPORTANT THING OF WRAPPING LARGE GUIDES LIKE THESE IS THE AMOUNT OF THREADS AND OVERWRAPS AND UNDER WRAPS. uSE ENOUGH cp TO PENETRATE ALL WRAPS, TWO COATS OF HIGH BUILD SHOULD FINISH IT OFF.

i HAVE BEEN WEAVING SINCE 1978AND HAVE TRIED SEVERAL COMMERCIAL WEAVING LOOMS, BUT THE PROBLEM ALWAYS SEEM TO RETURN BACK TO ORIENTING THE THREADS. aFTER TRYING DIFFERENT LOOMS i WENT BACK TO THE OLD TRIED AND TRUE WAY WITH DOUBLE SIDED TAPE AND MARKING {LEVING LONGER} EVERY 5TH THREAD, SEEMS TO WORK WELL THE MORE THAT i DO.EVERY ROD SEEMS TO GET INITIALS, SORT OF A TRADEMARK OF MINE.dOES ANYONE

If cost is a prerequisite try trivago, you will come up with a much cheaper hotel. May not be across the street but definitely cheaper as in $60.00 compared to $120.00 or more . Same town just a lot cheaper and as comfortable.Just a tip IMHO.

I painted a 10ft surf rod that was a putred green that I sanded most off. I then built a spray booth out of of cardboard to catch any overspray from spray Rustoleum in blacjk. In order to paint the blank evenly I posirtioned my roller uprights on my lathe where the guides{stripper and second guide} would be and used those two spots to hold the rod while i rotated it. Turned the rod fairly slowly a

On really small micro guides I use small bands of surgicaltubing or hot glue. Either method works great.

Use a good thread underwrap first and put metallic on top to dress it up especially for salt water.

This is the first time at the Benton convention center and I don't know about everyone else but when I entered the Expo I felt as if I wee entering a cave with the lighting the way it as, not very bright. I am used to th highpoint expo which was laid out better imho. Tom , please go back to highpoint next year if posssible, much better venue.

Didn't seem as large as previous years. When I walked into the hall I was not aw struck by all the vendors and product as years past at highpoint. my 8 hour drive and motel stay seemed alittle too much for a show that seeemed to be downsacaled. I personally will not attend next year i at the Benton convention center , back to Highpoint.

Any type of pointed object works as well a a pointed brush. i Use a pointy burnishing tool as it generally holds enough epoxy to transfer to the wrap suficently.

I have experimented with different solvents to thin my mixtures . I use only a few drops of any solvent but I have used both lacquer thinner or acetone with good results either way, just don't thin too much. try on a bare wrap on an experimental rod to test the effectiveness of different solvents. Good luck.
