Well I have decided to build the 2 piece graphite blank that I believe is a Orvis 5 wt. This is my first fly rod build and I don't even fly fish, my son does. I have a few more question, how many, what size guides, single foot or double should I use? Is a ferrule necessary? The 2 rod pieces fit, but there is a little wobble, I can trim a little of the end to eliminate the wobble.

That's what I am thinking too, just can't find anything definite. I'll try contacting Orvis next. Since I am really not that familiar with fly rods, if it is an Orvis would it be worth building? I would like to thank everybody who responded.

The blank appears to be a matte black finish on the inside and the butt end is a material of some sort. The two sections are of equal lengths, 52". Thanks for the responses.

There is a piece of masking tape that reads CF-865-2. The blank is a dark maroon/brown color. The butt measures 8.30mm (0.327") and the tip is 2.15mm(0.083"). I normally don't build fly rods, but I am going to give this one a

Hello, I am new to this site and a novice to rod building, my question is about the yellow glass Fenwick rod blanks. If a person had access to these blanks, which blank would be better for a 7' or 7'6" casting rod. I live in SE Texas, so I fish in the bay, marsh, and wade the beach for reds, specs. and flounder. I have plenty of rods, but it would cool to have a new/old custom rod. Any info
