Thanks norman I checked out the anglers resource like Tom mentioned . It states the first guide was a 20 h I believe which was what i thought too high til i checked the reel when i got home. It makes more sense now lol . I will have to order some guides and play around with it .

I am building a 13' surf rod . The reel will be a 656 ctm akios . I want to do the kw concept type set up on guides but need some direction on guide sizes and number of guides . Any help would be appreciated .

Well the guys that are using these rods are all one peice , and i have heard of the stories of the rod coming apart etc. One guy was using a lamiglass rod when i was last fishing and he couldn`t hit the same spots the guys with the graphite could. It would seem to me and i could be wrong the the two peice would have a little more limitations as far as gettting the load to spring as good as a one

I am searching for a 13 to 15 ft. one piece graphite rod blank. Sone of the guys where i fish have these type rods custom built . But the only problem is that the guy who made them is no longer in service. I wanna build my own . These rods are used for long casting for stripers and large blue cats . The weight is around a 4 oz. If anyone can point me in the direction of some info or where i can
