I am searching for a 13 to 15 ft. one piece graphite rod blank. Sone of the guys where i fish have these type rods custom built . But the only problem is that the guy who made them is no longer in service. I wanna build my own . These rods are used for long casting for stripers and large blue cats . The weight is around a 4 oz. If anyone can point me in the direction of some info or where i can find these type blanks i would be greatful. Side note the gut that use to make them might be deceased or soemthing no one knows how to find him cause he sold the rods out of a store he ran and the store has new owners. Lamiglas makes them, but as DR says, it would be really expensive to ship.
Now if you live in the NW, you could just drive to Woodland and pick one up! Walt Re: looking for graphite rod blank

Can't understand why with the quality of the two piece blanks today you wouldn't want a two piece blank. I have customers all the time tell me they have to have a one piece blank. They insist there is a lot of action lost with multi piece blanks. With the graphite made today and the ferrule construction there is very little loss in multi piece rods. When buying such long blanks, you need to order several at a time in order to break the shipping down over a greater number of units. I'm sure you've thought of that.
Lamiglas and Seeker both make long, 1-piece surf rods. ................ Re: looking for graphite rod blank

Like Billy said, a two piece will do the job well. Just make sure it will throw the lure weight you want to use. Bill - willierods.com Re: looking for graphite rod blank

Over the years I have heard many people ask for 1 Pc blanks in various lengths.
They remember or heard of early ferrule failures, or sections coming loose. One answer on long blanks is to get a 2 Pc blank, build it, and then put a bit of 2 part epoxy in the joint and assemble tightly. You now have a 1 Pc blank that won't work loose. As far as action and strength, modern blanks are very good. If the action were not good, I wonder if high end fly rods would be made in multi pc models? The longer Lamiglas blanks, that I am aware of, are fiberglas. Maybe someone could post a number for the long one piece graphite models.
A two piece graphite 15' Lamiglas blank is the GSB 180 2MH. It is rated 4 to 7 ounces and is sweet at 6 ounces. Hope this helps, Don Don Becker Re: looking for graphite rod blank

Well the guys that are using these rods are all one peice , and i have heard of the stories of the rod coming apart etc. One guy was using a lamiglass rod when i was last fishing and he couldn`t hit the same spots the guys with the graphite could. It would seem to me and i could be wrong the the two peice would have a little more limitations as far as gettting the load to spring as good as a one peice again i`m no expert just thought. But as don said if anyone knows the numbers to the graphite not glass rods please post and thanks to all of you that replied. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
