Try a St. Croix 3C66MHM cut down 3". I built a 6' 6" jerkbait rod on that blank and like it a lot. It has enough power to work the baits well, but it is slow enough to keep them hooked up pretty well. If you have a hot smallie that's jumping all over, you are going to have a hard time keeping him on any rod... especially with treble hooks.

I built a jerkbait rod on a St. Croix 3c66MHM and I like it. I have tried several other blanks and I think this one works the best... IMHO

You could try Sulky thread color 7022: Jade/purple multi-color. It looks pretty good with the multi-color holo guides.

If you are throwing jerkbaits and crankbaits you might be better off with a slower action rod, something along the line of SHIII AC66MHM built as a spinning rod. The SCV and SCIV blanks are very nice, but the Fast actions are usually pretty fast. I also have a couple of Shikari PII blanks that I like a lot, but I haven't tried the SHX blanks yet.

Yep, same deal here. I ran my virus checker to make sure it wasn't something on my system since I was getting so many bounced messages...

I just finished wrapping a 4S70MLF; I used the Sulky Blue Metallic with the Sulky Metallic Silver trim. The guides are the Fuji chrome frame alconites. The rod looks pretty nice.

I have a dropshot rod built on the St. Croix 3C69MLXF blank and it works well with medium to large dropshot baits. I also have a "finesse dropshot" rod built on a Shikari SHII P7000 blank. This blank is XF with a very light tip for picking up soft bites with light line and small baits. The blank is 7', but I cut mine down to 6'9". This rod has done extremely well for me this s
