Hello,
I gave my wraps a fourth and final coat of Flexcoat lite last night. Up till now everything went OK but in the process of drying that last coat my motor gave up on me while I was having fun in the local bar with my mates. I know, there's a lesson to be learned here... ;-)) Damage isn't that bad but on the first two guides on which I obviously applied most coating a sag has formed which

Hello,
I've just wrapped a flyrod in a blue colour I really like so I'm thinking about using CP. I read on the Flexcoat homepage that for the best coating result not to use CP but to prime with Flexcoat slightly thinned with acetone and then give it multiple coats after that. Will using CP give a less durable result?
Thanks!

I took some fine gritt sanding paper and carefully sanded the hump down by hand. Worked out fine, I can hardly notice it anymore!
Thanks!!!

Hey guys,
I'm building a #9 fly rod using a large Struble U18 saltwater reelseat. I bought a premade cork grip which already contained a recess for the realseat. Before installing the stuff on the blank everything seemed to fit nicely so I glued the reel seat and handle in place on the blank.
When the epoxy had set I noticed a high spot on one side of the cork handle where the reel seat enter

Hey guys,
Thanks for all the great ideas, they're really helpfull!
I'm going to experiment a bit, I'll build up a wrap underneath I think two wraps will do. If it's going to take more than two layers I think I'll buy a smaller one.
Cheers,
Eric

Hello,
I'm building a #9 flyrod and I'm about to install the metal winding check. I asked the shop where I ordered my things to size the winding check for me but it's internal diameter is a bit too big (about 1-1.5 mm). That is, I don't think a wrap above it will hold it in place before finishing it. Is this a problem and should I order a new one? If not, how can I best solve this, glue it in

Gary,
I totally agree with Spencer. Go for the R.B. Meiser switchrod blank or kits and you'll have great value for money! Talk to Bob on the phone or shoot him aan e-mail and he'll be more than willing to help you out with choosing the right setup which is best suited to your fishing style.
Cheers,
Eric

Hello Guys,
I'm going to build a Sage Xi2 which arrived today. It's got these white dot's on the blank. Is this the pre determined spine of the blank? Is it to be trusted or would youadvice me to determine it myself and go with that. I find it hard to determine the spine because this blank is so stiff.
How can I get rid of the dots? Are they water or alcohol soluble?
Thanks for your help

10. Ferrule plug?
Hi guys,
I'm going to build a #9 Sage Xi2, which arrived today. I noticed that the "male" ends of the ferules aren't closed with this foam like substance like you see on the factory rods. I can actually look through the blank, is this normal? Should I close these or not? If they are to be closed, what material should I use for this?
Thanks, I appreciate your help!

Hello,
I want to use a metallic trimband on a flyrod I'm building, but I want to keep it subtle especially on the snake guides one to two turns depending on guide size.
What technique would you guys advise me, pulling both tag ends under the guidewrap? Or are there other techniques when only using a minimal amount of turns.
Thanks!

Hello Ron,
When you say try brass with the TiCh coating, do you mean the Batson LTWC ones mentioned in the link, because I really like the high gloss appearance. I think it's the same one I'm refering to when I'm talking about titanium carbide (it looks the same). I'm going to use it on a blue blank (Sage Xi2) so I can use some contrast. Do you have good experiences using the plated brass on

Hello,
I'm going to build a saltwater flyrod and I'll be needing a winding check. Of course rubber is the safest choice however I like the looks metal ones (silver) better. What would be the best choice in terms of corrosion resistance (I wash my rod with water after every trip), nickel silver, titanium carbide? Does titanium carbide come in a silver look, because it looks silver in the pictur
