i plan on using this rod for worming techniques.
ive done some searching here but figured id just start a new topic... i cast with my right hand and reel with my left (left handed reels), no hand switch. should my spiral go to the left side then, the reel handle side?
i planned on using recoil micro

for my next swimbait build i am looking to use a lamiglass xc967 blank. i am wanting it to throw mid to large swimbaits from around 4-8 ounces. i figured it would be a better blank than the similar rated mhx swimbait blank but am not really sure. i am looking for the best bang for your buck in this price range and still be able to throw large heavy swimbaits, is the lamiglass my best choice?

if it were me, and a friend wanted help, id help him as best as i possibly could and not charge him a dime if i am not purchasing anything.
that is my mentality with friends. whats mine, is yours.
this could also lead to people walking all over me, i understand...

saw them on @#$%& and was just curious what people think about using 4s on a micro build for casting swimbaits? more or less sensitive than other fuji micros? also, would the fly tip top be recommended or no?

(also realized the micro search I did was that of only the last 30 days... that's why I wasn't finding much. But, I'm still hoping for the help here)

It will be a casting rod.
I plan on using the new Abu Garcia Kalex souped up. Its an Ambassadeur.
The blank is Mudhole's new line; a SWB967-Blend.
I plan on throwing an average of 4 oz baits with about 50 pound braid.
Hope this helps guys. Thanks a ton!

This is a simple question and i hope to get some quick answers... I am building a swimbait rod with micros and have never done it before.
I will be using the MHX 8' blank. My question is what guide sizes to use and how many. I thought I would use a 6 or 8 for the first guide then eight or nine number 4s before my tip top.
If you could convince me to use a spiral wrap, I would, but my same

i knew someone who worked at a collision car center and they painted my blank pearl white when they painted a vehicle that same color. they did a great job and it only cost me 20 bucks...

This is the reel seat on the new Abu Garcia Vengeance rods... Is there any way to purchase these reel seats? Where could I get some? I think they look pretty sweet and would look great on a custom.

I guess I should have added "that was comfortable" to my subject...
Bobby Feazel,
Very true, never really thought about that.
Bill Stevens,
Under 3 ounces!? That is crazy! And I plan on this being a multipurpose bass rod of sorts, casting, around 7'. More performance base on this rod. And fishing for both pleasure and cash whenever possible! Skill level; amazing, duh.

After the blank, what are the very lightest components out there to use on a custom build? Or what will make the rod the very lightest it can possibly be?
What are the lightest guides on the market? Lightest grip material? Type of grip style? These are only a few examples of what I am looking for.
I am just curious on how a person would make a rod in the very lightest way manageable...

Steve,
Thanks a ton! I'm still trying to understand how to use AutoCAD so I don't have the designs done yet. I've got your email and will send you my files when I finish them. And maybe here someday I will be able to afford my own lathe, just not now!

Does anyone know of any companies, or people, who can do custom machining for rod parts? I am using autocad to create some butt caps and reel seat caps to connect to the hood and am hoping to get them made for fairly cheap. Any help would be great guys. Thanks!

thank you guys so much!
if its not too much to ask, what sizes and how many guides should i use for a build of this type from reel to rod tip?
price wise im looking to spend for mid to mid-upper level components. so what micros do you recommend?
(i am not too concerned about the rod getting beat up a lot, dont do a whole lot of muskie fishing thru out the year. also plan on using 50# br

im going to be making a 7'10 swimbait rod throwing large swimbaits... will there be any issues with the rod if i put micros on due to the heavier lures i will be tossing? or does that even matter?
