Hi Peter, Let me start off by saying that I offer this as neither agreeing or disagreeing with the previous responses you have received. I have built many 130# standup rods for others and myself which have landed at least two 300# and a lot of 200# Yellowfin using both Gudebrod A, and more recently Maderia Polyneon 40. My reasoning for trying this originally is that I think the smaller thread

Hi Taylor, I would recommend checking the Madeira thread (Poly Neon) selection. Without having the exact colors of the Elk ivory and rosewood I can't say for sure , but would be surprised if you couldn't find something very close to what you are looking for. Be advised that you will need to use C.P. on the thread if you end up using the Madeira. Good luck with your project. Pat Doyle

Hi Jack, I have been using Madeira for many years, and have never found the need to use the method you mention. However I do apply two coats of color preserver prior to applying the finish coat. Pat

Hi Carl, I layout the location of guides, then add weaves to the blank prior to wrapping guides. This ensures proper spacing of the weave between guide wraps. Pat

Hi Mark, Yes, I am in the Orange County area. Now and then Jim Upton and I get together for breakfast, if you would like, email me and I'll contact you the next time we are going to see if you'd care to join us. And by the way, I think you'll be happy with the AT rollers. My best, Pat

Hi Mark, Have used the rollers on several rods and think they are very nice guides. Seems as though the trend has shifted to the turbo style guides now .... I think too many people didn't want to bother with the maintenance rollers require. While I still would want rollers on a rod that I am using for anything in the 200# range, it seems that I am in the minority. Pat Doyle

Had used Flex Coat for around thirty years, Jose at Seeker asked me to try the Classic which I did, and find it to be very similar but actually like it better in regards to viscosity and pot life. Have not noticed much difference in curing time. Pat

Hi Tommy, Thanks for the nice offer, don't think I'll be getting over there, but very nice to have the offer. Now, if you should be getting over to So. California, the same offer stands. My Best, Pat Doyle

OK Scott, it seems like we may be on the right path. What I'd recommend now is to take your picture to a copier shop and they should be able to enlarge it for you ..... maybe 8 1/2 X 11 will work, or even larger paper that most of those shops have in stock. This may, depending on the finished size require you to use the same size graph paper, or tape several sheets of graph paper together so th

Hi Scott, Not quite sure what your problem is, but assuming that you are using graph paper over a picture to make your pattern, you can enlarge the picture on most copiers, 25%, 50% etc. Then again lay the graph paper over the picture and see if this gives you the size pattern you're trying to get. I hope this is of some help. Pat Doyle
