I have a customer that is looking for a 9 foot 2 weight fly rod, ideally in 4 piece. I am aware that MHX has a 2 piece rod in this configuration. Anyone know of any other options for a rod like this?
thanks

I just had a customer ask me if I could build a fly rod using either red or blue anodized guides. Anyone know if these even exist and if so where I might be able to locate some.
Thanks,
Jeff

4. Re: Fly rod
Cory,
Where do you plan on fishing for Atlantics? Here in Nova Scotia by far the most popular flavour is a 9 foot 8 weight for salmon fishing. You may want to consider something a little faster than a medium action, weather conditions can certainly run the gambit here in NS from Sunny and no wind to driving rain and 30 knots of wind. Switch rods are also gaining popularity as well.

5. Re: Dip Pen
I just started playing around with this and am not sure of the size nib I have been using. I have used Testor's silver paint and do not dilute it at all. After the inscription has dried I put a coat of colour preserver over top and let that dry, then put rod finish over the top and have not had any problems. I tried using some clear coat Krylon on top of the dried inscription instead of the CP

Good morning,
I am in the process of putting an inscription on a fly rod, I am using a dip pen and Testors silver metallic paint. I haven't had any problems writing on the rod that part turns out fine, but the other day I sprayed some clear acrylic over the inscription to seal it prior to putting some rod finish on and the acrylic made the inscription run. I let the Testors paint dry for rou

Hi Everyone,
I am looking for suggestions for a fly rod to catch shark off the coast of Nova Scotia. From what I understand the fishing is done in the chum line not far off the stern of the boat. Up here the most common species of sharks are Blue, Porbeagle, and Mako with the odd Thresher thrown in. Average weight for this past season was in the 100-140 pound range topping out around 220 lb

11. a rod for senkos
Hi Everyone,
I was recently asked by a friend of mine if I could build him a spinning rod so he can fish Senkos for Smallmouth Bass here in Nova Scotia. I told him yes, but then I got to thinking and came to the conclusion I have not one clue as to what kind of a rod is needed for this. All I have ever built and and mostly fish are fly rods. I got some more specific information in what ex

I'm not a huge builder and havn't used many/any of your products. This is because I am not aware of anyone here in Atlantic Canada that carrys them. Around these parts Fuji and Struble are pretty much the standards. If there is someone in this neck of the woods who has your products I'd be more than willing to try them out.

Hi all,
I have stocking foot waders and foot orthodic insoles. I am wondering what other people do in this situation. Do you put the insole inside the wader? or do you get water proof orthodics and put them in the wading boot? Any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
cheers

Hello All,
I would like to build a fly rod to use to use in my kayak. I fish mainly for smallmouth bass here in NS. I've pretty much decided on an 8 foot 5 weight, 4 piece configuration. I would like the action of the rod to be somewhere between the Sage SP and the All Star Austin series. I'd like to hear any suggestions or advice people have. Thanks for your time and assistance.
Cheers,

Hi All,
I just took the top off of my bottle of permagloss and there was a sealedover/hardened portion at the top of the bottle. I broke through it and the permagloss that hasn't hardened up is quite thick. Is this still good to use? Or would I be better off chucking it out and buying a new bottle? Is there a secret to keeping this stuff so it won't harden up on me when not in use?
as always

Hello all,
I am about to make my first foray into using a high build finish ( flex coat). Does anyone have any advice for a first timer? When I opened the package I noticed that there was moisture inside both of the syringes, does anyone have any ideas what this might be and if I should be concerned with it?
cheers

Hi everyone,
I just purchased a kayak to fish from and ffigure that casting from it would be easier with something lionger than my usual 9 footers. I am thinking about a 9'6" or even a 10 foot 4 piece 5 weight. I really like the action of the All Star Austin series blanks. Does anyone have any blank suggestions that will suit my requirements and have an action similar to the All Star
