Lynn,
Sorry to be confusing. That should have read up to 40 gram lures. Most times lures would be smaller, but at times a heavier lure is required to cast into the wind etc. and he needs a rod that will do this if asked.
Thanks

Stan,
Thanks for the reply, but even though I really like the idea of a multi piece rod, I think that a fly blank would be to slow an action for what he's after.
Cheers

Hi there,
I'm looking to build a rod for my brother and am looking for blank recomendations.
His specifications are :-
9' Long; Two Piece (Minimum); Line Weight 8lb; Lure wieght up to 40 Grams; Fast Action.
He'll be using this rod for throwing small bibbed minnows, chrome, and poppers for Sea Bass in the UK.
He wants it to be light weight so that he can cast all day, so am looking

Scott,
I'd just like to say what a great idea. Sooo much neater that the bumper guides.
I'll certainly be using this idea on my next spiral wraped rod.
Thanks for sharing this with us and please let us know if anyone starts producing these commercially.
Cheers

7. Re: Calstar
I could understand it if Calstar blanks were always shipped with a Calstar sticker. I've bought several Calstar blanks from Mudhole and none have come with a Calstar decal. When I enquired about this I was told that the blanks were not supplied with one.
Does this mean that Calstar decals are only for use on their factory produced rods, and not for use on custom made blanks?

As I understand it to pack epoxy does not need air to cure. The curing process is by way of a chemical reaction.

Brett,
The reversing of the stripping giude is primarily for rods designed to be fished with braid or PE lines and spinning reels.
Many of the very top end Japanese rods such as the Carpenter's and Smith's even have all of the guides reversed.
I generally do reverse the stripping guide on this type of rod. I'm still not 100% convinced that it's necessary. But these big Japanese companies

That's a great idea Fred. I have the same rollers and the rod jumps out on an all to frequent basis. Especially when stripping the thread off of old guides.
I'll certainly be doing something similar.
Thanks

Daniel,
I had a very similar job to do recently with a jigging rod and found thet the best method was to cut the gimbal off (This shortens the rod by about 25mm) then cut off the rear grip. The reel seat can then either be removed and refitted or replaced. Then fit a new rear grip sliding it up from the butt and drill out and re-fit the gimbal.
The reason that the reel seat on the rod that

I've been asked by a friend to repair the reel seat that has come unglued on his one piece boat rod.
I've tried drilling a series of small holes in the seat and injecting two part epoxy glue, but there seems to be so much masking tape packing that there is not room for enough glue to do the job.
Do I really have to get involved with stripping off all of the guides and fore grip of etc. etc.

I've been asked by a friend to try and fix his rod for him.
The reel seat has come unglued and needs to be re-glued.

The rod is a one piece so the proper fix of removing the guides and fore gri
