Thank you all for your kind words and yes it did take a lot of time before deciding I couldn't justify the quality of my work to carry on and it has been a real downer in admitting it to myself that the quality had deteriorated so fast, on top of all this I received unwelcome news regarding myself yesterday so that just about tops it all.
On a more pleasant note the person who ( inherited ) th

I haven't contributed much to this forum but I have been following certain posts on here for years and hopefully will continue to do so if and when my condition allows. I was in the process of finalising six rods, four D/H's and a switch rod which were my favourite rods for building and using but just before Christmas 2018 I realised there was something wrong with my work on the rods and my visio

I too use ordinary candle wax on threaded mandrels as well as the custom made ones.
If I have to build up the mandrel to the same taper as blanks I use masking tape before waxing, never had one fail yet.

Thanks for your prompt reply Tom, unfortunately I have no ties with anyone over there in the USA at the moment.
Is it a postage problem, cost etc.?

It's been a while since I've posted on here.
The question is really aimed at the man himself Tom Kirkman.
I would like to purchase a number of the Rodmaker cd's. Are they available in the U.K. or can I purchase them from YOU.
The ones I'm after are SECD-4/SE10-12CD and SE SHOPScd3.
If available could you give me a link to purchase these with the postage costs to the U.K.
Many thanks in antic

Brian,I use the Titanium TSG's on just about all the fly rods I build, with TNSG's for stripper's.
I think they are the best, and a VAST improvement on any snakes, with less thread being used, you tend to impede the action of the rod a lot less. As for line slap against the rod, this used to happen to me between the stripper and first running guide, but after putting an extra stripper approx. 4i

Hi Daniel,
Most latest dvd players are multi region, but even if yours is solely for the UK market it can be programmed to accept other region DVD's. There is a web site that gives you a code to enable any particular player to accept all region discs, don't remember the site address, will do a search for it.
I have a few DVD's from the USA and they all play in my unit.

11. charlotte show
Hi there all,
I know there are a number of UK rod builders reading these posts on a regular basis, and am wondering if any of you are going over for this show.
I have a window of time, 25th-28th and am considering going over, it would be great if we could meet up and chew the fat, so to speak.

Hi there David,
If your having trouble geting the 240v motors, just go with the 110v and use a transformer.
Living over here in the U.K. it's prety difficult to source ready made power wrappers and dryers and most other jigs and tools. Most of the machines I have are 110v, and they use a 240/110v 45w transformer, which is the size of a small coffee cup.

Hi there John,
I'm over in West Wales, and have been using American suppliers mostly, They are a great bunch of people to deal with, I've had very little trouble with ordering from accross the pond, and with the £-$ exchange rate as it is, you should think about getting what you want over there.
If you are interested, I will be placing an order early in the new year(1st-2nd week,Jan.)Let me kn
