OK...I've decided on my xext project...a Forecast spey rod for summer steelhead floating line............
I need some advice....
Which blank....and I generally prefer something lighter...
the Forecast 11'6 6/7...or the 12'6 7/8.....
What is your experience with each blank..or either blank....Which do you prefer...and why......
How does the 7/8 handle sink tips.....
And how much

Hey Daniel.....
You're choosing a great blank!
I did mine with forest green wraps and bronze/copper trim. Used a green woven insert, as well. Very classy looking....
Mine is the 7 wt...I use it with a 7 wt Airflow multi-tiip line.
I know they rod cc's out much higher than the stated weight....but it doesn't really cast that way. MIne would certainly handle an 8 wt line.....but woul

I love Metallic Blue....for a real stand out look.
And I've used Chestnut on some fly rods......It looks great. Very subtle...not flashy...just classic. with a sunburst trim...no CP...It produced my favorite looking fly rod.
Garnet always looks good!
There you go...

How many pieces? That might make a difference......
I have some experience with all three of those lines....but not all in the 4-5 wt area!
My personal trout rod is the Sig. V (older model) 8'4 4 wt. This rod is off the charts terrific! The newer Sig V's are supposed to have an action and feel very similar to the old ones. If so...that would be my choice. I think the n

Put a decal on a butt wrap yesterday...Thought it looked great.
Looking at it this morning I notice a crease..small one..but it is there.
Is there a way to remove a dried on decal?

Spent 90 minutes thrashing air with my two 7 wts tonight......
Started with my 9 ft Dan Craft FT (this is the rod I used all winter for steelies)...
Then went to my 9'6 Lamiglas Esprit...(which I retired in favor of the FT)
Man...Did the 2nd rod take some getting used to...Well..I really never did. It just felt like a completely different animal....Not bad...but just way different.

Sure Dan......
Tempt us like that!
That's like waving cat nip in front of a cat.....
or a slow stupid gazelle in front of a lion.....
or a tumbler of whiskey in front of Churchill.....
You know we just CAN'T resist!
Ooooooh....That's not playing fair!
Are they up on your site?
