I don’t know what’s up with Pro wrap, but I have seen this for a while. Seems a lot of items are besides just pro wrap are not in stock.

There is another thread, but I just used 2500 grit wet sand and a 5 gallon bucket of water. The ridges sand off easily and stop when you start seeing grey residue coming off.

What does “fish the rod with a 1/2 above AFTMA standard” mean? A 6 weight line on a 5 weight rod?

It really is easy to sand the ridges down.

I guess I don’t know that much about fly rods to be that specific. I want something for dry’s and smaller streamers. Going to fish the Missouri River in Montana. I currently have a 9wt and a 10 wt I use for pike fishing but don’t have much experience chasing trout.

Has anyone built on this blank? If so what are your thoughts? I’m considering it, but would appreciate any input.

I recently built the x-ray IS 693-1. I built it for jigging walleyes with 1/8 and 1/4 oz jigs, but would work great for finesse bass as well. Total build at 2.8 oz. I’m impressed with it.

Yes it would be sacraligeous (sp), but that’s the beauty of building your own. You can do what you want!

In looking at it, that front hood seems the most difficult. I haven’t seen anything like that on any of the supplier’s websites. You may be able to use a regular hood and do some creative cork work, but it won’t be exact. Maybe that hood piece is out there somewhere tho.

Yes I was. I just needed to rub the tape a little bit to warm it up and get a better adherence with the scotch tape. Once it lifted it worked just fine.

Disregard. It was just being a bit stubborn.

First time building on an NFC blank. Is the decal an adhesive decal or a water transfer type of decal? It doesn’t want to seem to come off of the backing with scotch tape like I usually use. I don’t want to ruin it so asking for some help here. Thank you!

I’m not surprised that many of the ideas come from custom rod builders. I have never been to an event, but would love to. I’ve only been building for about 5 years for myself and friends as a hobby. I am hooked though and the urge to always learn more remains high. I have only been on this forum a short time and have learned a lot.

I like where you are going here, and you state quite well my reasoning for looking at new “off the shelf” rods. I want to see what is new, how things are trending, and to give myself ideas. Building rods has taught me to pay attention to details. Fit/finish, wraps, grips, guides, etc. as Kendall stated, I’m not looking to clone anything, but I like to see what’s out there. I live where walle

I like to go to the tackle shops to look at wraps and handles on new rods to get ideas. I saw this new Shimano and really like the handle. The seat and grip is easy, but looking for suggestions on how to put together the back nut and how to do that epoxy taper on the butt. It is the Shimano Expride.

I recently purchased the 732. It’s a bit much rod for 1/16 to 1/8th oz jigs. It ended up being a bit more rod than I expected but I’m gonna spin it up anyway. It might be great for 1/4 paddle tails and such.
