I've always made my own reemers from old rod blanks etc..... just use one close to the rods tapering
I tape on some plumbers sand paper to the top wrap a strip down the blank and tape the end.... replace when worn direction sensitive if you twist go with the tapes twist..
If you want to chuck it in a drill and ream.. glue a metal Ferrell on there end..

That's a good idea good will s. I look around Facebook market place some also.
Factory rod blanks are good quality... just more work. I personally like the look of the blanks with a clear coat. Just zip strip itand clearcoat. But anything krylon color is good matte black is good..

I buy cheap rods Walmart cabelas etc.. and practice.
For example I did a danco surf rod. $20. Bass pro
For a while I hated it... i wanted to work clean new you know.
But for the cost and all the rods I had I just started to redo them
I've got good at taking these things apart. I don't mind the free handle and guides.. and if I do I replace them to and it's still allot cheaper.

Tried pro kote cp also. Seems to need like 48 hours to cure or you get bleeding.. seems to get Milky haze finish with multiple coats. It's OK
Ray cotes stuff is awesome. Down to my last bottle and I'm lost if I can't get more
It's clear. one light coat light coat and 24 hour cure. Awesome stuff. But to be honest it's a mom a pop stuff and I dunno what it is.
