Has anyone else experience a 403 Forbidden Error when trying to access the website and going into topics?
I seem to be having this issue fairly frequently lately. Trying to see if it something I am doing. (it happens on multiple devices, phone, computer)
Thanks,
Stan

I did make one with some custom EVA grips I just made. Turned the hood on a mandrel. Then used a 3 jaw chuck to hold it while using a Forstner bit in the tailstock to hollow it out. Have room for improvement if I did it again.

Follow Up Question: On my rods that are 7-7.5 Ft long I have around a 10.75" Reel to Butt Length because that is where I like the butt to hit my forearm above my elbow.. This does result sometimes in a slightly tip heavy rod, but I have never added any weights to the butt to compensate for this and it has been fine to cast all day. But with a longer rod used for Steelhead and similar Handle

Greetings,
At the ICBRE I went to a seminar by Nuno Paulino where he was doing marbling on rods and guides. I was very intrigued by this and would like try this and practice it. Are there any suggestions on what I can practice this on without it being a rod blank or rather cheaper than the blanks I have?
Thanks

Greetings Mark,
There wasn't a “sensometer” demonstration. In fact there wasn't an NFC or Edge rods presence at all at the expo. NFC/Edge rods equipment and product wasn't able to make it to the show due to weather, so nothing made it. I was looking forward to the “sensometer” demonstration myself, along with their product as well.
Thanks

Michael,
Who was the individual you had helping you show the sawtooth wrap? I wanted to see if I could find some videos by them. I was trying use the wrapper but it was quite different then mine so missed some of what she was showing.
Thanks
Stan.

Thanks for input. Ordered a NFC ST-962x blank. Hopefully can get in time to try fishing for steelhead this spring.

Adding to this question. As someone who hasn't gone steelhead fishing before. What length do you recommend for a rod of this type? I wouldn't be doing this in PNW but rather in WI for Great Lakes tributaries "Steelhead". Thanks

Approximately how long does it take to perform a TNF test per rod? How long does it take to perform a Vibrometer test per Rod? Then need to have an agreed upon test for sensitivity (Tom mentioned Tug on Line test?) And somehow see if there is correlation amongst the two different methods for testing sensitivity.

Okay Thanks Tom. I could try putting in a shower area out of the way and then try to press it afterwards? Would get hot/humid during a shower without necessarily getting it wet then.

I have had problems with some of my rod blanks before reached out to customer service and had the issue resolved, with no complaints.
In the case of the certificates I feel they have sorta dropped the ball. I did contact them to see if they could replace the certificates with new ones,(I offered to
show that I had cut them up so as to show I am not trying to get some extra certificates) and

For those of you who ordered rods that were to include a Gary Loomis Signed Certificate. How was the packaging for your Certificates? I had mine sent
in an paper envelope through the mail with no cardboard backing, rather just the certificates in the envelope. The certificates got folded during shipment
which caused a crease in the paper to appear. (I tried to place the certificates in so

18. Re: Expo Update
Looking forward to going, and learning some things as a new rod builder! I am planning on driving down from WI(In Case I want to purchase some items and bring back with me) Planning on being there both days and attending several of the seminars.

Thanks for feedback. Sounds like it's something worthwhile, and I will try to see if I can arrange to attend.
Thanks,

What kind of seminars are there going to be at the Expo?(past Examples?) Is this something that a new rod builder would be able to go to and learn/benefit from?
It looks interesting but a bit of a drive/flight from WI, so was just looking for a little more information to see about planning/arranging to come to it.
Thanks,
Stan

23. Re: ice rod help
for an Ice Reel Seat I just use a straight Cork Grip(Tennessee) and then use Silicone Tape to attach the Reel to the Cork, no reel seat needed.

Thanks for the Info.
The reason that I had asked(I see that Roger Wilson doesn't put Epoxy down) was because the directions at Decal Connection specify to put Epoxy coating prior to applying Decals.

Thanks! That's what I was thinking since you have to burnish the decal on. Didn't think about putting CP on before epoxy. Can try.

Stan Daubinawski
If you put a layer of epoxy down prior to putting Decals on, how long do you need to let it dry before putting the decals on the epoxy?
Would it be the same as if you were to put another coat of epoxy on? or do you need to wait longer for the epoxy to dry before
putting the decals on and applying another coat of epoxy over them.
Thanks

Roger,
Thanks for the info about the remote switch. I should be able to make something that will allow me to make this upgrade!

John,
I have seen the comment someplace else. Do you have a remote switch for Forward/Reverse that can follow you down the rod? Many times I want to reverse the thread and having that ability would be nice without having to go all the was to where the motor is on longer rods. (I usually spin the thread
spool at same time to keep tension so sometimes a bit harder to spin rod by hand)

Are the chucks the same between the two? The Alps might include the upgraded chuck?
I will give another vote for the DC 777 as well. I probably use it as a hand wrapper mostly but nice to use as power when wanted, usually at a fairly slow speed, which is pretty easy with the DC 777. But I haven't compared to others, so take that with a grain of salt.
