Cool. I think this is what was being referred to in the Gary Loomis AMA, I was wondering if new blanks were going to be announced at ICAST.

Here you go. The foam on the inside cut out could be sanded down all the way out the the Carbon Fiber. So that is where the 25mm dimension is coming from.(You ream the center to fit the rod same foam material in the cutout)

Great Question, I have one of these and need to order a fly rod reel seat to go with and see what it looks like(fit wise) and what will need to be done.. Looking forward to seeing the responses..

Are there plans to announce a new Rod/Blank at ICAST as was alluded to in the Gary Loomis AMA?

I have noticed on the NFC Website that Gamma Alpha, Gamma Beta, and Psi Fly Rods don't list the Butt and Tip Diameters.(However they aren't listed as NULL)

Thanks Tom.
I guess it proves one shouldn't just make assumptions.

Are Fuji KT running guides appropriate for fly rods? I was assuming they weren't, maybe I was wrong in that assumption.
Thanks Norm.

Sorry. I wasn't very clear. I will use the Fuji Titanium #6 Arowana tip top. And Seaguide Tixmg #6 running guides since Fuji doesn't seem to make titanium fly style ceramic running guide's

Greetings.
I am not a fly fisherman, well at least not since I was a young lad. I was talking to my college buddy and he has been doing some fly fishing trips and having fun and talking about the fly rods he was using..
(This was for Freshwater, trout mostly)
I thought with the NFC sale going on I would be a few fly rod blanks and build myself some rods so that I could maybe go with him n

I am not an expert on guide selection, others can chime in. But I don't think that you need that many guide Sizes. Can do more 16H 8H then 4.5 Runners. Not Certain the Line Size and type you are using. But you can look at the KR Concept layout at Anglers Resource.
This was the advice that was given to me when I was looking at building my rod.

The hyperlinked NFC Catalog lists pattern 857 as X-Ray MB7109 and if you go the the X-Ray MB7109 details page it has a SKU of 00857 so I think it might be a X-Ray MB7109. And this correlates to the blanks I have received from NFC. Alex would be able to tell you for sure

45. Re: Tip Top Wrap
Thanks for all the replies! So I put about 5 or 6 wraps of thread in front of the tip top and will coat with epoxy. Gives a little finish look with minimal addition hopefully. Once again thanks! Forum is so helpful.

46. Tip Top Wrap
If a Tip Top is Glued on with Tip Top Adhesive, is there a requirement for Wrapping it? Is it more for aesthetics? Or do you wrap over the tube
a little to help secure it? I am building an Ultralight rod and wondering if it would be okay not to have the wrap Tip Top. On my Ice Fishing Rods I
wrapped a guide for the tip top, but this is first time I am gluing a tip top on. Thanks

Follow up on this.
Norman the information you provided was spot on. I got all the parts for the grips yesterday. The matte G2 3k matches the NFC Soft Touch 1K Grip Pattern Nicely.
This fits nicely on the KSKSS 16 Hood. I have the Aluminum Winding Check you suggested but might be a little big to for the rod blank.
I am thinking I could put wrap some thread underneath it the same color as

Do you need to have a separate Rod Dryer? Or is the 40 RPMs slow enough? (I assume without using the foot pedal you can't go slower than 40 RPM)

Does anyone know what ID of this is? I can't seem to find it.
Would it fit one of the Fuji hoods(KPDS, HPS,KSKSS) for making a hidden hood on a Fuji IPS reel seat.
Thanks
Stan

I placed an order for NFC Blanks on the 25th of March and they just sent an email today that they have shipped it on the 25th of April.

Scott thanks for the offer. I live in Fox Valley area. So maybe could arrange, and check them out. Turkey hunting this week. But could catch a Brewers game and check out your examples sometime.

Good Information. I can use this for my rod build as well. Looks like the American Tackle Matte 3K is what I would want as well.
I can talk to Aleks Monday to find out when my order is shipping and when the shipping of the matching hidden hood are shipping and see how close they would be. Maybe could use them.

Thanks for doing the experiment and reporting back the results Norm!!
With that information I will do the same and use a 16H 8H followed by 4F. I assume I can roughly follow the placement from anglers resource KR GPS but make sure it looks right as a bullseye, through the reduction guides.
Thanks for all the information and feedback. Really appreciate it I will probably have more as I go.

Wow. Thanks for all the feedback and information on the guides.
Sounds like the Pack Bay Minima's are the way to go as far as guides.
Would tip top also be Minima one suggested in Catalog then?
I am waiting for my Blanks, so I assume it is best to wait to measure the tip before purchasing the Tip Top rather than going by the manufacturer spec.?
(I wrapped my tip top on my Ice Rod)

Greetings during the recent NFC Rod Blank Sale I purchased a NFC FW 601-1(IM) Blank and a NFC 1K-IPS3.75-2.0 Soft Touch Grip to go with it.
I am using this for Trout Fishing in Small Streams in WI and perch vertical fishing. For trout fishing it will be a light flouro line, and for perch it will
be light braid with flouro Leader .
So I did find the Anglers Resource for KR Guide Spacing.

Greetings. I have a similar Question on Guides but for a different blank. (Not trying to Hijack anything but not certain if I need to start a new thread)
I have only built 2 Rods So Far(Both Ice Fishing Rods with Cork Grip No Reel Seat), a Bass Kang Power Noodle and and a Bass Kang Panfish Carbon.
(With the Guides available at the site)
With the NFC sale going on I purchased a NFC FW 601-

Thanks for the information Tom.
I will try the methods that you have stated to see if its good to go. (I did keep the epoxy dish I used to check first).
I guess the safest bet is to temper my excitement and wait a little bit before taking it out for its maiden voyage.

I just finished my first rod build. A Bass Kang Power Noodle. (Its definitely not as good looking as others I have seen) I did learn a lot and hopefully can do better next time.
I found the information on Gen4 Epoxy I used for the Rod guides and its states:" Fishable after 24 hours, but we recommend 48 hours to allow for full crosslinking". I would like to use it
