I personally would buy one. But I have heard of people just setting a timer and rotating the blank every few minutes at first, then rotating the blank every 15 minutes, etc. If you choose to go this route, I would go with high build as it's less likely to run and droop. You can test it out on a rod you already own. With that being said, I'd really suggest a dryer

Thanks for the replies. I really don't want to coat the winding check with thread epoxy if I don't have to. I'll test this out first but I planned on grip epoxying the winding check in place, then standing the rod up vertical while carefully filling up the hole that is shown in picture 2 with high build epoxy. The only issue I'll have is when doing the rear grip winding check since the rod w

I'd get 26/64ths. But I would measure the blank multiple times. With that being said, I don't think you could go wrong getting one that is 2/64ths larger either.

Norm, that's a great post. Thank you for the info. I personally already ordered an alconite set but you've really made me second guess that, so thanks for that. Haha

What guides and ring material do you like to use for mag bass blanks? I got a NFC mag bass HM blank that is going to be used for everything but the kitchen sink. Will Fuji alconite guides downplay the blanks potential too much? Their cost point is pretty low but SIC guides cost 3x as much and this will be a freshwater only rod. Thanks for the input!

I'll see if those are available elsewhere in smaller sizes

I'm building an ultra light rod with carbon fiber grips and I'm having a creative block on winding check ideas. The Fuji metal winding checks I planned on using leaves too large of a gap between the outside diameter of the winding check and the outside diameter of the carbon grip making it look too "empty". I'm not sure getting a larger was being check would work since it would sit

Tom, I'm worried the difference between the carbon fiber I.D. and the blank O.D. is in that "big but not too big" range where a foam arbor would disintegrate. I believe the I.D. is .375 and the O.D. is .270ish. I guess I should also state that this is mainly for the butt grip

I have an ultralight trout rod that the diameter of the blank is much smaller than the diameter of the carbon fiber grips I ordered. After reading a heated discussion about tape arbors I was thinking of using epoxy to build up the diameter of the blank. Is this okay or recommended? Thank you
