I assume Gold ceramic guides could affect the action of the rod, but personally like them to be slower than factory intend, but I'm not sure the guides replacement job would justify the expense ... & be worth it, better choice, if you sure single wires could do better, is just to sell existing rod and make another with single wires like REC's ... stainless steel ceramics, which are muuch heav

Just finished Z Axis 9.5' 5 wt used SIC TLSG07 - 08 and strippers TLNSG10 & 12 & tip top TFST07; and it casts just PERFECT ... line went to the backing from the first cast ... and it's not somehow slower and even if it was i definatelly preffer little slower action than factory intend anyways .... but i noticed that heavier guides like .... zirconia ring single foot titanium carbide plat

XP 8wt 9' 890-4 is awesome rod with 9 wt Rio versitip, not overly fast, feels just right; another perfect XP is 5100-4 has real feel of loading; however, 590-4 experienced to be too stiff, no 'relaxed feel' even with a 6 wt line. my 5 cents

Thank you. I am convinced nothing happens to other guides. The faulty one circumstantially was last #4 guide I was going to attach; and noticed defect, initially thought it's some dirt, scrubbed with my fingernail and TiCoat came off a little more. Yes, returned the guide to the dealer, and he assured me is going to tell Forecasts, perhaps Batsons here on West Coast.

Yes, I like Ti Coat single foot Forecast wires on 4 wt light rod, they do perfectly fine. But on speys load and friction is higher, which might not be the issue if coating is there it theoretically stays there.... Besides my dealer said he has never seen that kind of thing that Ti Coat came off; said will talk to Forecasts !!!!

I got Forecast wire TiCoat snake guides #4 and 5 from a local dealer; meant for a spey rod, possible heavier load than a single hand.... and found on one guide damaged surface- COATING WENT OFF at footage towards snake bend. I am abit surprised for the reason it could happen, maybe the surface was unprepared before they did Ti coating on a stainless steel, anyway, I am just concerned could someth

since i have burned three tip tops I have come to conclussion that ONLY plastic low T glue should be used, and i do not put wraps below tip top tube either, in that case i'm 99% shure would be able to remove/ change TIPt. Also it needs to be heated very gently and TIP top should be under string of tension to come off when melt point occurs, again even couple of seconds lighter flame could damage

I had RX8 5wt 9' 3pcs, rod OK but too stiff / fast, perhaps RX8+ is a bit slower, but would try see the blank before actual building ... I wouldn't use 6 guides #6, - too small, ceramics correspond to wire as follows: 6=1, 7=2, 3=8, 4=10 Maybe first two to three could be #6.... I would start with #7 Also tip top #6 is quite small, I used #8 Rgds, E.
