Hello lads, Mark I checked those All American titanium rollers out and they look great plus price was very good compared to most of the others, I have never built a roller guide rod before, but looking at the rollers they all seem to be similar and work in the same principle so the all titanium ones for just over a $100 bucks a set seem the way forward to me and thanks for all the info much appr

Hello Jason have you watched the the video ( a revolution in rod component layout and design ) on youtube by Fuji? Good video btw, I think your first three guides are to small should be able to kit that rod with 9 guides plus tip, I would try 12,10, 8, then 6x6 running to 6 tip or 10, 8, 6, 6x4 running to 4 tip that my 2 bobs worth hope this helps ????

Al there’s a guy on you tube Lou Caruso he gives a good description on a surf rod build check it out if you are going to use the concept guide system you with need 11 guides plus tip and I would go with 30 butt to 20 16 then 8x10s with 10 tip as you might want to tie a fluorocarbon leader on so more clearance for an fg leader knot, let us know how you get on with the build as I fancy one of those
