I ll second that, both of those companies are very helpful. They were both generous with their time and their knowledge helping me do my first build.

Thanks Jon, appreciate the info. What type of paint are you using, after watching some videos I think I want to try an acrylic paint so I can change colors by fading them, but i do have some testors enamel. Since that does not dry as fast do you know if I can fade that?

3. air brush
Does anyone have any knowledge on using airbrush to paint the butt and or near the grips on a fishing rod. After watching this guy paint his custom lures I asked myself why not. I understand anything toward the tip has so much flex it could cause problems. Also what type of paint and how to dilute it? Thx Guys

The paint ended up looking pretty nice but after i did a cross weave on it and applied the color perserver to the thread it became wavy and flawed looking, after playing around with it a little i stripped all the paint off and found a nice looking blank down below, i

So i ve started my first project, an older spinning rod that had damaged guides and much of the thread was unwrapping, I decided to paint the blank with a spray paint for plastic and it looks pretty good, I made a cross wrap and when I applied the u 40 color lock the threads look good but it seems bubbly and gummy on the blank. Should i have cleaned that part immediately with alcohol? What can I

What size thread is common for wrapping your guides and decorative wraps in the butt section, I went with the microwave guides if that helps any.
