As many might, I do the majority of my Internet surfing on a smart phone. Curious if there is a mobile friendly version of the rod forum I'm not locating. The search feature didn't show any thing reject relevant either. If not, guess I'll have to continue zooming in and out while turning the cell on it's side with these old eyes of mine! ???? Thanks! I also run a PearlLabel 270 that does a terrific job. Just now beginning to get my shop back in order after selling and purchasing another home. (Still have a ways to go, but it's nice having my own area to hang out in!) Definitely recommend Larry Tobin and his LRT Group. After a number of years, the laptop I used to design labels crashed along with all the software. Larry immediately took

Insurance is a 'transfer of risk' to the carrier in return for a 'premium'. In my previous career as a commercial insurance agent, I often told clients there are three ways to handle a risk; Avoid the risk; Assume the risk; Transfer the risk. Most choose to Transfer the risk. I've also operated somewhat low-risk businesses since leaving the insurance industry and have formed multiple LLC's, compl

Need some blank recommendations... Have a request for a 7'6" to 8' e-glass cat rod. He'll be using a baitcaster with 20# line, live baits and circle hooks setups. Had him handle a Rainshadow .385X.105X72 and a CRB 7' Medium, Fast action for feel. He is a tournament cat guy and was okay with them but really desires to mimic the discontinued E-CAT from Berkley (7'6" MH, cork handle, stain

A simple matter of curiosity here... Do you not ask the buyer how they would like their rod wrapped prior to finishing and delivery? 50% seems like a high number to be returned for rewrapping conventional.

Use a length of 1/4" threaded rod and sandwich your grip between washers and nuts and use your drill.

I had an old high school friend request a "reef/patch fishing for snapper and grouper", he fishes out of his own boat in Florida. The last time I fished saltwater was in 1978 (37 years ago??? YIKES!!!) for blues and flounder off the Jersey Shore. I sent him a message on what specs he likes as to rod length, action, reel and seat, etc. I primarily roll ice rid and local freshwater sticks

Anyone else ever do practice wraps for an upcoming build and not be very happy with what 's appearing or developing on your blank? Then you come back later and think, "Hey this looks pretty good now!"??? :D

A great blank and the guys who have it really enjoy it.

fwiw, I was like you and wanted to build an ice rod specifically the way I wanted it. My first build was for practice and when others saw it they asked if I could do one for them. Now I have rods to build for others and still haven't done my original big fish ice rod. I found rod builing to be a great hobby and very relaxing. I think you'll find it addictive and always wanting to do something

On the Order Page the red text box titles are very difficult to see and read - the red blends into the blue background. I can highlight them with the mouse so they appear as white text on the blue background. I'm using Google Chrome as my browser.

Give it a light buff with a scrub pad and add another coat of finish. The new coat will cover up any scuff or sanding marks.

fwiw, the ridges on my decal disappeared after the second coat of ProKote. I'm using a small 8pt single line decal and the first attempt had a corner lift up through the wet epoxy. I pulled the decal off and allowed the epoxy to set up and dry. The second attempt I placed the decal and then let it sit for a few hours to securely attach itself, and then applied the finish. Had a small ridge last n

I used the yellow inlay as a center and to bring some of the yellow from the top thread wraps into the hook keeper. Smaller thread was an under wrap, larger for the over wrap.

Returned home this evening and put the first finish coat on the second rod I wrapped identically to the one in the OP. This is the before pic with size A under wrap and size D over wrap, same spools and same #422 color. The end result was the same, the under wrap turned lighter again as in the first pic. Uncertain why the A thread would lighten on a dark rod though. Either way, the results were f

The blank is an ice blank MHX 30" carbon and is black - or very, very dark grey depending upon ones eye. Under wrap is #422 ProWrap size A with a neon yellow size A thread inlay of 5 wraps at the center. The over wrap is #422 ProWrap size D, and is wrapped directly over the #422 beneath. The only green would be the centered inlay which is visible and not covered. I wrapped up an identica

Bill, I'm placing guides on a similar stick for myself this morning and will use the same threads for the build w/o CP, out of curiosity.

I double checked afterwards and both spools are marked ProWrap ColorFast 422, CFS-A and CFS-D. To the naked eye they both appear to be identical in color as well.

I used NCP ProWrap #422 Bluegill in size A as an underwrap, and then in size D to wrap the keeper. One light coat of CP was applied and allowed to dry for two hours, and then the ProKote thread finish was used. As you can see there is a fairly apparent difference in color appearance. Not a big deal with this rod as it looks almost planned, but would have been an issue had I desired it to match. I
