Thank you Wade. I did not know Rodgeeks did metallic. I would still like to know more about painting blanks. The epoxy is a extensive choir for the whole rod and what would it do to the action?

I have a customer that wants me to paint a blank with metallic paint. I have never painted a blank and don't even know if this should be done. Does it crack? What type paint? Does it change the action of the rod? Any feedback will be great. Thanks

Randolph The one you mention, is it a St Croix rod? The ones mentioned above in post was suggested by St Croix. I am not too familiar with St Croix rods. But the customer only wants a St Croix. This is the problem or I would have a lot more options.

Thank you Roger I almost was going to place a disregard on this thread after I posted it because I am thinking what you just said. But it is always good to here someone else say the same thing. So thank you again. Great forum. I wished I had found this forum years ago. I am not stupid with computers and belong to other forums related to hobbies. Never thought about a rod building forum. Barry, Chris, and John Thank you Great information. The reason for this question now more than in the past. I am getting a lot of request for young ladies and children rods where pinks and purples are a main color. I have a lot of these colors solid. In embroidery thread I see where they have mixed colors more available for what I am wanting to do.

Custom request for rod build. (I’m looking for a 5’ spinning rod to jig Tog. The action will need to be pretty stiff. Not deep sea stiff but prob. medium heavy action or heavy. I’m into St Croix rods. If you have any suggestions I’m open. Looking forward to hearing from you. I contacted St Croix this is their suggestion.) (Ed, guessing he wants to drop some heavy metal in deeper water, unfortu

I noticed on my twitter and facebook account people have shown builds where they are using embroidery thread and sewing thread on their wraps. 1st I am not accustom to using these threads. 2nd does the color preserver work on this thread? 3rd How do they hold up under UV? 4th What problems can I see using these threads? There are a boohoo of wonderful threads if using them is applicable.

Thank you roger. I believe this is the way I am going to go. Cutting up reel seats looks like the only option I have in the cheap. After I figure what I am doing then I can move up to something more expensive.

Thanks for the replies. I am sorry I was not more informative about my request. I am looking for skeleton real seats that are metal. Cast, spin and fly. that are not too pricey. I am experimenting with custom inserts and may mess up a few. I could even make do with some used ones.

Hello everyone New member first post. I would like to find a good resource for reel seat hard ware without the insert. Can anyone make suggestion? I have read through a lot of post and find this forum to be one of the best.
