I have a power wrapper pretty much only because I was lucky enough to get a smoking deal on it. That said, I only use it to apply and dry epoxy finish. I've never really used it for wraps other than playing around a bit. If you can find a good deal on one I'd say go for it, otherwise your money may be better off spent buying or fabricating a couple rod dryers. I personally have a lot of waste

Im no expert and some of this may have been mentioned but my opinion is: -main problem: use different pull loop (I use 10lb Nanofil fishing line). it's possible the thick mono is causing a loose wrap and then unraveling during the burnish because of it. -loosen up thread tension a tad -make sure wrap is tighter which would need less burnishing Disclaimer: I watched the video on my phone an

Thanks for the help everyone, I ended up placing another order with my supplier and added the cork onto it.

Unfortunately not, some of the cork splintered off when it broke... This rod build is cursed.

I am hoping that someone on here can help. I finally recived a back ordered blank and planned to build it this weekend for delivery next week. When installing the cork reel seat, specifically the SK2 with Fuji BGKS16RC cork the cork slip in half. Does anyone in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area happen to have a Fuji BGKS16RC I could buy from you? I'm willing to pay retail price and woul

Geoff - thanks for your quick response today and working with me on this. It's great to see a company that will work with customers like this. Looking forward to getting the blank we discussed!

Every rod I've done is different but I'd say no more than 4" at most.

@Roger - the color is the Titanium Chrome, looks great just feels terrible in the hand and the top is way off.

Interesting thing is I have another one (which USPS decided to break the bottom 4 inches) and it has the same feel but a size 5 tip. I'm going to give Batson a call on Monday to get their opinion on it.

Lynn - I would have thought the same thing but the sticker on the blank says it's the right one.

I just purchased my first Immortal, the blank I have is the IMMWS68MXF. I was very excited about this blank based on reviews here and the neat color, however, After receiving it I am honestly a bit disappointed. The stated weight is 1.7oz and tip is 4.5, however, the one I have weighs in at 2.3 oz and has a 5.5 tip and the wall thickness looks to be about 20-30% thicker than the Revelation and

How big of trout he is catching? If it's he 2-8lb class a MH Walleye blank should work. For a 36" rod I'd say no more than 6 guides which is what I have on my 36" MH walleye rods. I'd go for solid carbon or solid fiberglass fort he blank.

I do a wrap of light hold painters tape directly on the cork and wrap over than with 3M Super 33. This way you prevent damage to the cork as I've had issues with electrical tape pulling out chunks in the past.

Sounds strange, but I scratched up a blank when sanding a handle and I put mink boot oil on it. Once I applied that the scratches were invisible.

Best drop shot rod I've built, albeit entirely by accident as I was building a walleye rod, is a 5S66MLF from St Croix that I extended 6". It has a fantastic backbone and incredibly light tip with a super fast action. Was one of those nice little surprises when I built it as it was not my intended purpose.

Wow, this is a great deal! Any chance this will be extended to include the VSS reel seat?

I just installed the Anglers Resource Winn grips, I reamed to fit and used Flex Coat Rod Builders Glue. No problems so far. I would hunk double sided tape isn't needed with epoxy.

Not to hijack the thread, but this brings up a question in my mind. What is the difference between polyester thread (Fuji Ultra Poly) and nylon thread (ProWrap)? I've noticed the Poly thread does not darker as much as the nylon, is that because of a different compound of just the fact that it is different brands?

Thanks Everyone. Roger - yes it had the striped look. I took a leap of faith on the color given my success with the thread in the past, lesson learned... Jim - I used the medium Green over the SCV green blank (darker green), I was a bit surprised but understand the logic behind dark blank and light thread. Speaking of junk blanks, does anyone have some lying around? I typically build t

SCV is worth the extra money in my opinion, that is, assuming the rod you are building will be used for presentations where sensitivity is of utmost importance. i.e. i wouldnt use an SCV as a crankbait or topwater rod. That said, the SCIII is a very sensitive rod as well but doesnt feel as crisp as Tom eludes to. As for my personal preference, I use either SCV or SCIII and skip the SCIV all

Tom - thanks. No haven't experienced this problem before and I do most of my rods without Colorfast thread. Is this something to be expected with Fuji thread or all makes? I really like the look of the translucent thread and would be bummer if I needed to start applying CP to avoid the zebra look.

Tom - No color preserver and this was Ultra Poly thread. I did not thin the epoxy either.

Has anyone experienced a "zebra" like look with Fuji thread? I just wrapped a rod where I was meticulous about packing and burnishing, the wraps looked great until I applied finish and then it started getting stripes. I took off the wraps and the same problem, I ended up having to wet burnish and that helped a bit but still isn't perfect like I am used to with ProWrap. I love their t

Pete and Greg - welcome, I just watched all your videos on Syncork. I've used it on ice rods and have always been intrigued. Out of curiosity, do you have a shop in MN? If so, I would be interested in stopping by to take a look at the Syncork rings in person.

Thanks Jim and Don, i am considering a size 5 versus 4. Jim - do you know what size runners St. Croix puts on that rod off the shelf? If not, I have no problem calling them. I like the size they have on it.
