John, I have read a few articles on here and other sites most of them say start with a 16 but if the reel sits high on the rod that you may need to go to a 20 to start out. Since neither one of us has use an Avet, and looking at a picture the customer sent me I will say I would be safe with a 16. I just wanted some imput and I appreciate the response.

I am also doing a spiral wrap for the first time for a customer. I have read everyone's input and this is very informative. The question I have is, the customer is using an Avet MXL reel for the salmon rod, does the first eye need to be a 20 or use the 16 eyes? I have never used an Avet reel and just wanted some input.

Try schneiderrods.com I had the same problem with microwave eyes with size 5 with tiptop 7.5. They sell the tip top 7.5 with a size 5 eye made by Batson. That is the smallest eye that I found for a 7.5 tip

Tom That's what I told my customer I might have to do. But, he has a triple XH Halo rod with micro eyes that has a tip top on it. Now it does look like it was made but it look professional and that's why I was asking the question here because I doubt Halo would tell me how they did it

Roger, Is there away to put the running guide into a 7.5 tube to make it look professional. That's the biggest thing I am trying to find out. Or if someone on here can make them where they look like you would have bought it that way. Dick, I looked up that way and that would probably work I just want to look like a regular tip top with a tube but I may have to go that route. thanks for t

Bill Sorry I figured I wouldn't explain the question right The first time, so I will try it again. The MHXFS906 has a tip size of 7.5. All the running guides for the microwave casting is a number 5 eye. The smallest eye for a tip top that is a 7.5 is a size 8 eye. The customer wants the same number 5 eye on the tip top to match the running guides Hope that was a better description of my qu

New to the board and I have already learn some things. That said I have a question, we have a tournament guy that we are sponsoring for the up coming bass season, I built him a rod with microwave eyes on them and he likes them better than the regular micro eyes. The problem is finding a tip top that has a number 5 eye with the tip being a 7 on a flip stick. He has a Halo xxxh that has a number 3
